Middlesex are in trouble at Scarborough despite having bowled Yorkshire out for 253 with four wickets for 19 runs during the second morning today.
Ryan Sidebottom and Steve Patterson struck to leave the visitors at 4-2 after six overs of their reply at lunch, getting rid of openers Chris Rogers and Nick Gubbins caught behind and trapped lbw respectively.
The White Rose county started the day on 211-6 before moving to 234-6 thanks to Tim Bresnan and Adil Rashid, who made 20 and 15 respectively.
Steven Finn and Tim Murtagh, however, equally shared the last four wickets to fall as Yorkshire just crept over the 250 mark to secure a second batting bonus point. Finn finished with 4-81 from 19.5 overs.
This was some collapse for Yorkshire, who had been well placed at 177-2 during the evening session of the first day with Adam Lyth on the way to 117 and 1,000 runs for the season.
