Billy Clarke fired a double as City rounded off their Irish tour with a convincing 4-0 win over Shelbourne this afternoon.

Barring Aaron Mclean, Phil Parkinson fielded his strongest possible side for the first hour. And the gulf in class showed against a home side made up chiefly of youngsters and trialists.

Alan Sheehan scored City’s opener in the 20th minute from the penalty spot after Willo McDonagh handled his cross.

Clarke soon made it two from a pass by the energetic Mark Yeates as the visitors took complete control.

Clarke fired his second ten minutes into the second half after a charge up the field by Andrew Davies.

City switched all 11 players just after the hour and Raffaele De Vita thumped in the fourth from an angle.

True! Its only a friendly...However, I'm glad De Vita banged a goal in, I'm pleased He has been given a chance/run out...I think this Lad, when fully fit will be like a new signing.

Maybe a few more god performances and Massimo will be knocking on Phil Parkinson's door think the Bellender's are short of an Italian wide man, either that or Aldo from the "Ital" Massimo seems to want a squad of Italians.

Nowt fresh, same rubbish on here, as you put on the rest of T n A. What you know about football, you could put on a pin head. Forgot you are a pin head.

Well done, City, keep it up and come the start of the season, you'll hit the ground running.

He was carrying a severe injury last season. Now he's fully fit, he'll show exactly how good he is.

its called a practice game/friendly to get players fit and working together. What would be the point playing Man utd say in our first games so we can just run round in circles chasing them? Its a chance to see players

Johnny Mac will re-sign and we have a back up already in Matt Taylor, who was more than bloody useful when he used to be between the sticks. Adam Reach will return, plus a couple of other long term loans. And that'll be the squad. Maybe not big on numbers, but high on versatility. PP has a number of players who can play across a number of positions. And let's not be negative about this - if we're challenging towards the top and it looks like play-offs are possible, JR and ML will allow Parkie to strengthen along the way.

NO : but surely the idea of going t Ireland was, inter alia, to get good game time against stiffer opposition than trialists and juniors!
