BRADFORD Park Avenue failed to record their first win over Doncaster Rovers as the League One visitors ran out 2-0 victors at Horsfall Stadium.

It was the third meeting between the clubs in recent seasons – two pre-season games and an FA Cup tie – and Donny kept their unbeaten run intact.

The game was typical for an early friendly, with both clubs fielding different sides in each half.

Avenue matched their visitors in the opening 45 minutes and the sides turned around goalless but the Football League outfit were stronger after the break. A goal from Theo Robinson just after the hour broke the deadlock before a Dean Furman cross was sliced into his own net by Steve Mallory.

Tonight sees Guiseley stepping up their preparations for Saturday’s visit of Bradford City. Mark Bower will be giving as many of his first-team squad as possible some game time against Albion Sports at Throstle Nest.

Bower said: “We’re really looking forward to it. It should be a good game, Albion are a terrific little club who have come a long way in a short time. We wanted a game before playing City and this is perfect for us. It will be a good test for our players.”

Silsden are also involved in their first friendly as they host a Harrogate Town XI.
