JIMMY Lowes has revealed planning is underway as the Bulls look to assemble a squad for next season.
The Bradford head coach said he would ideally like to keep around “90 per cent” of his current crop for 2015 but he accepts a number will depart in the event of relegation.
Nevertheless, Lowes is hopeful that there will not be a mass exodus and said he would look to bring in his own players to bolster the squad.
The Bulls chief has recalled Jamie Foster to the squad for tomorrow’s trip to St Helens and has also included teenagers Nathan Conroy and Alex Mellor.
Lowes said: “I’ve made it quite clear in a couple of meetings that I’d like to keep all the players, or least 90 per cent of them, but obviously that can’t happen.
“If we do go down, it’s a whole different ballpark, but I’ve earmarked the players I’d like to keep whether we are up or down.
“I had an idea of the players and what they’re about, particularly the senior boys, but I’ve had to get to know some of the other guys and I’m still doing that.
“But I’ve got a good idea of who I’d potentially like to keep.”
Former Bulls stand-off Ben Jeffries will join Leigh next season and London Broncos yesterday announced the signing of Italy’s World Cup hooker Ray Nasso on a two-year deal.
Sheffield Eagles have signed Kyle Briggs from Featherstone Rovers on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The Bulls are understood to be making progress behind the scenes with potential recruits for next season and have already stated they will retain a full-time squad.
Lowes added: “If we are truly serious about coming straight back up if we do go down then we have to treat ourselves like a Super League club.”
Dale Ferguson and Oliver Roberts remain sidelined but are closing in on a return.
Lowes said he was particularly looking forward to seeing Roberts play and suggested that teenage half-back Adam Brook would also get a first-team run-out before the end of the season.
The Bulls coach added that skipper Matt Diskin had been assisting him in training but he had not made a decision on a permanent number two.
