TOM Olbison is enjoying a rich vein of try-scoring form but the Bulls back-rower believes he still has plenty of room for improvement.

Olbison has touched down in four of his last five Super League appearances, including two in two matches since Jimmy Lowes took charge.

Although pleased to cross the whitewash, the home-grown forward says he can get better still with a strong end to the season.

"The half-backs are creating the openings, so I'm just doing my job and hitting those holes in the spaces they create," said Olbison.

"The tries are good but you're always wanting to improve your game and there is other stuff I can be working on.

"I'm not resting on my laurels and sitting back just because I've scored a couple of tries. It means nothing for the rest of my game, so I still need to keep working week on week."

Olbison believes the Bulls can take the positives from their improved display against Catalan into Friday's trip to St Helens.

He also insisted the club's survival hopes were far from over and said he was enjoying life under Lowes.

"Jimmy has upped a lot of things in training and changed a few other little bits here and there," said 23-year-old Olbison.

"You could see that on Sunday, although it was still disappointing not to come away with the result and we were all hurting afterwards.

"But we'll take the positives into Friday and hopefully keep improving until the end of the year.

"Survival is still possible and you can't look at it as if it's dead and buried – it's far from that.

"If you look at it like that then we're only going to be defeating ourselves at the end of the day.

"There was some improvement against Catalan and we almost got the result but if we keep on improving then you can never say never."

It remains to be seen whether Olbison will look to stay at the Bulls should they be relegated.

But he said he would be loathe to depart, adding: "As far as it stands, I'm a Bulls player. I'd like to stay with the club because this is my fifth or sixth year being here full-time.

"I've been here right through scholarship and have a lot of history with the club. It has served me well and brought me through to Super League.

"I'd be gutted really if I had to leave – but I'm not planning on going anywhere at the minute. I'm playing it by ear, that's all I'm doing."
