BRADFORD Park Avenue have further signalled their intent for the coming season by landing the signature of Joe Colbeck.

The former Bantams winger could make his Avenue debut against Doncaster in tonight's friendly at Horsfall Stadium.

Colbeck, still only 27, has signed a one-year contract with the Conference North outfit.

He gained plenty of experience in the Football League with spells at Darlington and Oldham after he left Valley Parade.

In the past few season he has been in the Conference Premier with Hereford and, most recently, Grimsby.

Colbeck is now back to his Bradford roots and is ready for a new chapter with the city's other club.

"It will be different for me, moving from being a full-time professional to a part-time footballer, but I'm really looking forward to it," he said.

"I had interest from other clubs but, after weighing up my options, it was an easy decision to join Bradford Park Avenue.

"It is local to me but, after playing against them before, I know it's a well-run club – plus other players have told me it's a good club to play for.

"There is a really good vibe around the place and, from what I've already seen, there is some good young talent in this squad."

Avenue boss John Deacey is pleased to have secured Colbeck's services.

He said: "Joe has great pedigree and has played at a good level of football.

"He is a down-to-earth lad and I'm very grateful to have him here. I'm looking forward to working with Joe."

Colbeck joins fellow new signings Bradley Barraclough, Paddy Miller, Scott Kerr and Nathan Turner at Horsfall.

They will all be looking to get some game time against Paul Dickov's visiting Doncaster side, who will be rivals of the Bantams in League One this coming season following their relegation from the Championship.
