Yorkshire openers Adam Lyth and Alex Lees both scored half-centuries in a memorable first morning’s batting against Durham at Headingley.
The White Rose county took advantage of Paul Collingwood’s questionable decision to bowl first upon winning the toss in this LV= County Championship match and reached lunch superbly placed at 145-0 from 32 overs.
The pair hit 22 fours and a six between them during a morning session which saw very few alarms.
Lyth brought up a 71-ball fifty first and Lees got his off 67 balls. The latter hit the only six when he lofted a full toss from Scott Borthwick’s leg-spin over long-on.
Lyth was resuming this afternoon on 67, including 13 fours, and Lees 66.
