Danny Williams poised for Bradford Bulls debut against Catalan Dragons

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Danny Williams with Jimmy Lowes Danny Williams with Jimmy Lowes

DANNY Williams is set to make his Bulls debut against Catalan on Sunday after arriving on a one-month loan from Salford Red Devils.

The former Leeds winger, who enjoyed a spell in rugby union with Newcastle Falcons, has spent the past four seasons at Salford.

His arrival marks Jimmy Lowes’ first signing as Bradford boss but raises further questions over the future of Jamie Foster, who has not featured in the Bulls’ past five matches.

Williams looks set to slot in on the left wing against the Dragons on Sunday and he admits he is raring to go.

The 27-year-old, who has scored three tries in nine appearances for the Red Devils in 2014, said: “I’m looking forward to it the opportunity .

“Bradford are a big club and I’m thankful to be a part of it.

“There is plenty of competition for places in the backline here, which can be only healthy for the club.

“So, if I train well, hopefully I will get the nod for this weekend.

“It looks as though I will be battling against my parent club, as the Bulls fight for Super League survival. And as much as I want Salford to do well, I am a Bradford player now and I want to do my very best for the club.”

Williams will begin training with his new team-mates today and Lowes believes he can make a difference in the next four weeks.

“Danny is a very good player and he is a very experienced player,” said the Bulls coach.

“He will certainly add quality to the squad and we are very pleased the opportunity has come along.

“I am sure Danny can enhance what we have already got. It always helps to have competition for places, which is something we do not have enough of at the minute.

“He starts training on Wednesday morning, so we will see how he settles in and develops.

“He is very in contention, though, for the game against Catalan – which is another big one for us.”

What is the point in a one month load spell. It doesn't really matter if we all the games in the next month we will still be in the championship next season. Why not have a look at our juniors and see if any of them look like being 1st team level by next season.

Because we have been so poor this year, we have been given a long preparation for next season. lets not waste the opportunity. Start planning for next year now, and lets hit the ground running

We haven't had a quality back come through the juniors and actually stay for longer than 12 months since L.Pryce in the 90s. Can't see it happening now.

Exactly. Maybe, just maybe, this is more of a 'trial'. if all goes well for both parties he may sign permanent.

See what you mean, predicts his career with Castleford in 2015.
Rumours are correct then.
