BRADFORD'S Emelye O'Brien has added a British title to her English crown.

The Farsley-based Leeds Karate Academy pupil won the cadet female kumite +54kg category at the British Karate Federation Four Nation Championship at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, which attracted over 1,000 entries.

O'Brien looked untouchable, dominating all her fights with her incredible kicking ability as part of a fantastic weekend for the Academy.

In-form assistant club instructor Ashley Scott took her first British BKF title, winning the senior female kumite -61kg event, including an 8-0 triumph in the final.

James Brown picked up two medals, taking silver in the under-21 male kata and bronze in the under-21 male kumite.

David Lister also had a great day, taking bronze in the under-14 years male kumite +45kg.

Club instructor Matt Price, a sixth dan black belt, said: "Coming back with two golds, a silver and two bronzes from the biggest domestic tournament of the year is an excellent achievement.

"It was fantastic to see Ashley and Emelye crowned British champions – something that the region can be proud of."
