EMBASSY A recorded their first victory of the season in Division One of the Bradford Summer League after overcoming fellow strugglers Yeadon B.

Both teams were seeking their first win and it was Yeadon who made the better start as Derek Greenwood beat Andy Braithwaite followed by Chris Sanderson overcoming Paul Stephenson.

Tony Boyd led the Embassy fightback with three victories but he was pushed all the way, beating Mick Burton 11-9 in the fifth game, Sanderson 11-8 in the decider and Greenwood was beaten 11-7 in the final game.

In between Stephenson won two and Braithwaite beat Burton as Embassy took six in a row on their way to 7-3 success.

In Division Two, the bottom two teams were also in opposition as Hermits D met Hermits E.

The D team were looking to get off the mark and they were on course for victory as Chris Town dropped just one game in winning his three singles while George Raine got the better of Steven Morris and Stuart Stead.

The E team replied with two from Stewart Varley and one from Stead and at 5-3 down Morris beat Nick Raine in the last singles with the doubles to decide the outcome. Varley and Morris ensured honours finished even by taking a marathon encounter 11-9 in the fifth game.
