BRADFORD Mutual Sunday School League official Graham Langton has pleaded with players to respect the umpires.
Not for the first time in his life, Umpires' Association secretary Langton is in a tricky situation as he explained at the league's latest meeting at Clayton ARLFC: "We have a few umpires who are not made to feel welcome by certain clubs, resulting in a poor atmosphere before the match even starts.
"Umpiring is a hard enough job as it is. Players should try it sometimes.
"If they get a decision that goes against their side before tea, they may get a decision that goes in their favour after tea.
"Let's be man enough to take it on the chin and just try and get on."
