Bradford Bulls 18 Hull KR 44

MATT Diskin's first game in caretaker charge ended in a heavy defeat to leave the Bulls' survival hopes hanging by a thread.

The club captain was placed in temporary charge following the sacking of head coach Francis Cummins on Monday.

Diskin started at hooker but was powerless to prevent Hull KR romping to a convincing victory which might just have finished Bradford off.

The Bulls went toe to toe with the Robins during the opening 40 minutes but gradually capitulated.

It was their 13th defeat of a grim season and the relegation trapdoor is coming into increasingly sharp focus.

Travis Burns opened the scoring for Rovers but Bradford replied when Elliot Kear scampered clear in the right corner.

But two tries in quick succession before half-time put Rovers 18-6 up at the break.

First Josh Hodgson barrelled over the line and then Kris Welham capitalised on a mistake by Lee Gaskell to race clear in the right corner.

Bradford then suffered a woeful start to the second half when Craig Hall burst clear within ninety seconds of the restart.

Full-back Greg Eden went over from close range for a fifth Rovers try before Bradford responded on the hour through young hooker Adam O’Brien.

But Rovers remained comfortable and replacement prop Adam Walker barrelled over the line from close range.

The Bulls hit back again through Danny Addy but the Robins underlined their superiority with another try when Hall went over for his second.

A late second for try Eden – who raced clear from distance – compounded Bradford’s misery.

Good 1st half effort but we will not win the game by making schoolboy errors in defence
We have to come out and fight for the WHOLE 2nd half and not just 20minutes otherwise, I fear that this could be the end!!

He didn't even need to pass though.. If you watch the replay Eden has already predicted he was going to pass.
The pundits keep praising Hall for running out of the line to make tackles.. It's because it's so obvious what we are going to do.
Championship standard but at least the games will be better to watch

What a disgrace this so called team are!!
Bring back St Hilaire because on this showing I think it is actually thse so called "professional" players who cannot defend or win the tackle.
Coupled this with the seeming inability to be able to pass and catch a ball then the writing is now on the wall.
Mr Green should save us any further embarrasment and not bother with any further points appeals and anyone linked with the coaches job will probably want to start running for the hills if they have to work with this shower!!
Sorry but the truth hurts!!!

Nosher,
Got to agree with you.Stopped in tonight to watch this shambles.Re Olbison,I think I might have scored there.Agree with you cannot perform the basics of R.L. A complete clear out is required, some of these players are not good enough for the championship.A basic schoolboy error, knock on stand there, let them pick the ball up dart away and score. Why did he not just kick it into touch, make them scrum down.Let the ball bounce stand watching it let them pick it up and score, simple really, just fall on the ball.At least retain possession, but no,let them have it.Unbelievable.

That's the point of training at every level from under 8,s upwards. A 2 v 1 is about decision making to draw the 1 defender and pass to your support or dummy and go.

At least we are consistently awful - very poor standard, can't execute the basics. For professional players, they all ought to be embarrassed. If they had any decency they would all give their wages to charity.

The season was already over, it most definately is now. So hopefully the players will stop making silly comments about how up for it they are, when they can't deliver.

On this showing I would get rid of the lot of them, and start again. I wouldn't want any of them playing for us next year.

Another "must win" game gone, terrible performance, i don't think some of our forwards could run through a wet paper bag, defensively - well its non existent at times, with a basic defensive set up,that was a game that would have been won last night, it really was basic school boy stuff, as was said above, anyone could score against this shower.. I just don't know whats going on at Odsal, this team on paper should be doing far better than its showing, its clear alot of these so-called full time professional players have thrown in the towel, Its time to have a complete clear out now,
I for one just cant wait for this season to end, the folk who turned up to Odsal last night deserve far better than this, some of these players need to take a long hard look at their selves, through their pathetic efforts they have got their coach sacked, its quite clear a few of these want showing the door, and the ever dwindling loyal band who go to support this "team" deserve far, far better.- a disgrace

You can only work with what you have. Cummins showed his lack of judgement (never have a winger as a coach) when assembling this squad. It is replete with poor players, some not even Championship quality. Even our "big" Cummins signing, Carvell, has been farmed out on loan, so clearly he's not good enough for Hull! Only Eliot Kear looked like he was playing for a Super League contract. Ferguson missing again and again. Another astute signing by Cummins. So they may have been Franny's (now Disko's) boys but it is as poorer group of players I have seen for a long while. Against a Robins side lacking at least six regulars, our defensive show was lacking in any intensity. There are some bigger beatings on the way until we can wrap up this sorry season and see where we go from here.
An explanation as to why we sacked an out-of-his-depth coach before having a replacement in place could be that it was forced upon Green with comments made by Cummins in public and then behind closed doors, left management with no other alternative. But leaving Diskin in charge is like letting MacDonalds look after a cow. Nil desperandum, as my son said to me, "where exactly is Featherstone?

I wont be attending another game until we get a coach in place. The pictures of Diskin on sky in the dressing room before the game and at half time, when he was on the touch line showed he wasnt the man to be leading. He has stated he doesnt want to do it, so move on. We would have been better sticking with FC till a replacement was available. On last nights performance, only Kear (player of the season by far) gaskill and Obrien looked to be putting the effort in.

Ah well at least we will get some competative games next year. Anybody who has not been to Fev, Dewsbury, Batley ect you are in for a treat. It is proper rugby played in front of the few die hard fans who turn up week in week out. I have watched Bradford since i was a ten year old in 1977 and seen a bit of change in that time. I have seen some poor teams during that period but i am finding it hard to remember one as bad as this. We have been shafted by the RFL and fellow clubs but the club put themselves in that position. We are not the first to go down and we will not be the last big club to go down. My worry is we dont have rugby league die hards running the club. I dont feel that Mr Green is as commited to the club as he should be and i dont think he will have deep enough pockets or the will to get us back to superleague next year. To all fans of Bradford sit back and watch hard rugby played by part time blokes who do another job through the day and turn up on game day to give their all. lets hope we have enough guts and skill in our players next year to at least give them a game.

We have trained hard etc, etc but we cannot transfer it onto the pitch, schoolboy errors and now the players are mentally fatigued....at least they are getting paid for NOT doing their job as opposed to the fans who are PAYING to watch a bunch of people not doing their job.
I for one would hate to put my life in the hands of these players as according to them they knew it was a win or bust game and then put in that display....disgracef
