MATTY Blythe admits nothing less than victory will do tonight if the Bulls are to have any hope of escaping the drop.

Hull KR are the visitors for the Bulls’ first outing since head coach Francis Cummins and his assistant Lee St Hilaire were sacked on Monday.

Club captain Matt Diskin, who has placed in temporary charge of the team, voiced his support for Cummins earlier this week and Blythe has paid tribute to his former boss.

Cummins signed Blythe on loan from Warrington last season and later handed him a permanent three-year deal.

The 25-year-old centre said: “It’s going to be another massive game and we need a response after last week but we’re looking forward to the challenge after a difficult few days.

“Franny going was a massive loss to the club because he was the guy who brought me to Bradford and believed in me.

“I’ll never forget that and he’s been a massive influence on my career as moving to Bradford has helped me to become the senior player I needed to be.

“Lee was a big help to me as well and it’s just obviously disappointing what has happened because at the end of the day it’s down to us.

“The coach can only do so much and it was up to us to put things right on the pitch but we just didn’t do it.

“I’ve not spoken to Franny yet but I sent him a text saying ‘I appreciate everything you’ve done for me’.

“We’ve just got to try and get on with the job in hand now and that means getting a result on Friday.”

Diskin has picked the team for tonight’s game with assistance from vice-captain Luke Gale as Blythe explained: “I think Disko has done a tremendous job in the circumstances that have been handed to him.

“All credit to him, he’s a great model professional and a great leader which he has shown this week.

“It has been a bit weird with Disko taking the reins but we’ve come up with a game-plan and we need to stick to it.

“Galey has done a great job too and we’re all chipping in and working hard for each other.

“Like I said, off the field it was obviously very disappointing to see Franny go but on the field we’ve got a job to do.”

Chev Walker admits the Bulls have hit "rock bottom" but has vowed they will keep on fighting.

He said: “Sadly we are used to things going against us but we're not rolling over and calling it quits. Obviously confidence is shot at the minute.

“Disko has put his hand up and his first day as coach was good. We had a good session and he delivered his messages and his game-plan over to us really well.

“Credit to Disko for doing that. Obviously Lee and Franny were a big part of our group and held us together for so long so it's sad, but as a group we owe it to them and to ourselves to try and get some performances."

Rovers have slipped out of the top eight after conceding 88 points in their last two matches and former Bradford favourite Jamie Langley joined fellow forwards Justin Poore, Kevin Larroyer and Jordan Cox on the sidelines with a season-ending knee injury sustained in last Friday's home defeat by Warrington.
