Salford Red Devils 46, Bradford Bulls 18

The Bulls were left staring relegation in the face after a shocking display saw Salford Red Devils run out easy winners this afternoon.

In a match they simply had to win, Francis Cummins’ men made a nightmare start by conceding four tries in the opening quarter.

The Rangi Chase-inspired Red Devils scored through Logan Tomkins after three minutes and Junior Sa’u soon scored a second before Andrew Dixon’s try and Chase’s first made it 18-0 after just fifteen minutes.

The Bulls replied through Elliot Kear but Chase and Sa’u both scored again to make it 34-6 before Tom Olbison touched down on the stroke of half-time.

Luke Gale’s second conversion made it 34-12 at the break and, although Bradford scored again through Adam O’Brien on the hour, Salford claimed two more scores through Francis Meli and Niall Evalds.

The result moved Salford nine points clear of the Bulls and sent Cummins’ men another step closer to the drop.

How can the management expect the supporters to back them when they put on displays like this. It cannot be all the players fault, and much as I like FC I feel he needs some assistance from a top flight coach.. Now is the time to ask Brian Noble to oversee this shambles. It gets more and more embarrassing to support our team and know they can play better than they are showing... IT IS TIME FOR ACTION MR GREEN NOT WORDS.

You are correct we are not as bad as the results are showing. It is clear the players have no respect for the coaching staff or the players have their minds else where i.e. new clubs for next season.

Come on Mr Green you MUST take some drastic measures to resolve these major issues. Get rid of FC & his team & get on the phone to Nobby to at least put some pride back into our club. We are an embarrasment to SL at this present time. We cant be expected to win games when FC is accommodating his friends & also playing players out of position. You must be seeing what us supporters are seeing. You have got my full support Mr Green but us supporters want to see changes ASAP i.e. FC gone

Terrible, just don't know if its worth bothering to turn up at Odsal this week, whilst the head thought it would be another defeat, my heart wanted to believe that this shambles of a team would play with some pride, guts and heart. Reading the match report above, well, it appears the usual pathetic performance, the sooner this terrible season is over the better, just totally fed up with supporting a team that quite frankly is an embarrassment.

So much for treating every game like a cup final and the players putting in effort for 80mins to install some pride!!
Why these so called "players" are being paid seems daft, might as well offload the majority of them now and blood the youngsters.....I doubt they would do much worse and at least they would show commitment and pride in the shirt for a full game.
I did feel sorry for FC at one point but if he and his team cannot sort of the basics like tackling and catching balls etc then I see no point in continuing with the current coaching team either

For the first time ever I have to agree with some of the posters on here.Mr. Cummins has unfortunately got to be relieved of his duties along with the rest of the coaches. It is no good Marc Green asking for the backing of the supporters when it is quite obvious now the players have given in.O.K. most of them are not good enough for S.L. anyway but surely the coach has to instill some pride into them. That obviously is not happening so a change has to be made instantly before the loss of many more supporters.Once they go it will be very difficult to get them back. Also as players,do they think that other clubs are going to sign them when they show no fight for the situation they are in.

Although I agree with most above, throwing in lots of youngsters will only totally demoralise them. We need them for next year and we need them in a good frame of mind. Put one or two in every now and again but wholesale - absolutely not. It would destroy them. The senior players need to earn their money. As far as Franny, If we have a coach lined up for next year who is free to come now then bring him in now. If not, then let Franny finish the season. We mustn't make a panic decision as nobody can keep us up now - it's over!
We need Ferres to advise Green wisely over the coaching and players for next year. I can't remember if he was still at Cas when they approached Powel Last year. If he was we need that type of foresight when deciding our coach for the next few years.

Its interesting that the local BBC commentary stated that Rangi Chase played his best game for weeks, havng been almost non-existent for the past few games.
TBH that fact was the most telling of the whole match. Chase caused havoc, helped by our players falling for every dummy in the book!
No passion, no leadership, no desire, lack of defensive will, lightweight pack, and the main problem as I, and many others, see it - players being made to play totally out of position.
The debate of players "caring about the shirt" died today...clearly!

Enough is enough of this disgraceful show by a so called SL team. Time to call a halt and get Green his money back.
We can then liquidate the club and hopefully build a new club to start where we belong at the bottom. We can't keep being let down so badly. More excuses to be reeled Monday I suppose, how we know what we did wrong etc. and how to fix it with more commitment from the players.
I bet the Koukash's can't believe their luck that they didn't win the bid.

Sad to say this was the worst game that I have witnessed in following the club for many years. There are no positives to take from this game. The fact that we defended better in the second half is no consolation considering our defensive performance in the first quarter. Considering this was a "must win" game the team we lacked the intensity required from the kick off. In fact the majority appeared fatigued after the warm up. Salford beat us tactically, with speed at the ruck, defensive line speed and most importantly desire to win. Everyone knows the qualities of Rangi Chase but to allow him the freedom to play as he did in the opening quarter was disastrous This was truly one of the most embarassing displays I have seen from a Bradford team.. I am now convinced if the players and the coaching staff cannot motivate themselves for a game as important as this one to the club then we are due to spend a long time in the doldrums. I'm sorry Mr Green but if you cannot do what the majority of the teams around us in the basement area of SL have done recently ie replace the coach and his staff and try to recruit some cavalry with an exprienced coach to guide them. Then I fear for your investment. We knpow that the players have had to endure a lot this season but so have we the fans. The players need to realise that we support the club financially. by supporting them home and away and in the main all we demand is some passion and committment.. We the fans will support our team to the hilt. We will not support a team that produce displays such as that served up to us at Salford today.

The reality is that the situation is impossible.

We would be relegated regardless of the 6 points as we are such a passionless , leaderless and ultimately doomed club.

It's almost pointless spending money this season as it's a complete write off. The time would be best spent blooding youngsters for next season and saving the little money we do have to assemble a capable squad for an salut on the Championship next year. Money wasted on journeymen this season is utterly pointless !!!!!

But there's no point throwing money at this season..... It's ALREADY over.

We need to cut our losses and protect the budget for next year.

Paying off FC would also cost too much as OK gave him 3 years.

MG is a decent businessman and will clearly have worked this out.

I was embarrassed to be a Bulls supporter today.

Drove to Salford and paid hard earned money to watch a team that were that awful words can not express. I can forgive them for not being skilful enough but a total lack of motivation, commitment, and effort is not acceptable for professional players. They are getting paid good money to do something they love and are basically taking the PxxS out of fans by not putting any effort in.

If Green had any balls he would stop the players wages for a week and refund all the fans that paid money to watch the team. Infact if the players were honest they would not take their wages.

We are a joke. As I have said before FC is out of his depth, on the radio afterwards all he could say was that we were woeful for the first 20 mins, what about the other 60. Gaskell should never play full back ever again and why do we start with Walker as prop and have proven props on the bench, the mind boggles.

And Green is not doing anything about it!

What about a call to Mr Noble.

Although we have left it too late.

Ever heard of the "Chaos Theory?" well you hit the nail on the head with the chaos theory beginning with the Harris signing, but at the time no one knew of the contractual arrangement that Harris had with Leeds including our near and dear RFL who registered the player to us, after the deal offered by Leeds was not suitable to Harris, who took the Bulls offer as being more like the deal he had with Cardiff. (Read Lord Justice Gray's trial transcript to find out the facts, before blaming a chairman that built the Bulls brand and brought undreamed of success to the City of Bradford and the supporters of our once great club)
With PH it was a different matter, he managed to get rid of all the directors, leaving himself in charge, another string in the chaos? Then he capitulated to Leeds and paid them a six figure sum over 3 years, for a non case against the Bulls, as the case was against Harris, his agent and his solicitor who were the only people who knew about the restrictive trade clause in the contract . (another bit of the Chaos unfolds) then of course he sells the Stadium to pay off a debt to the RFL, (a final bit of the chaos)
Then it took hold big style as we know, leaving us all bitter and hurt by the situation we find ourselves in.
It's a very sad day.
Cumbria is a nice place to visit, do you remember when we took 16 coaches to Barrow , n convoy from Odsal, a cup game, not league?
Still I would prefer not to make the trip again, but in truth it's a total embarassment visiting any away ground after the drubbings we have faced in SL.

Alarm bells should have been sounding after the record defeat against Wigan. But no,carry on as normal. Comments of theres lots of positives, defiant,we play for each other etc, etc. What a total shambles. So a decade of mismanagement as finally caught up. Am i going to bother going Friday, probably. The weekends performance as surely got to be bettered!!!!!!!!!!

Marc Green is a good businessman and he has protected his interest and will have redeemed his loan to Moore and Whitcut by now.

If anyone actually believed the bluff and posture that has come from the board they got a wake up call yesterday as the lack of investment in the team clearly showed.

We have stumbled from loan player to loan player, played guys out of position and had players on the field with injuries that should have been rested.

FC has no plan B and even though I do not rate him as a coach he has done his best with what he has had to hand.

If Green was serious and that i doubt due to his comments prior to getting the Club; we would have recruited a number of Championship players for this season; they would not have performed any worse than we have already and if we had gone down we would have had an established core of players to start life in the lower league.

I expect there will be the usual plea to get behind the team today, well Green why do you not get behind the Club?

I would also go and get Glen Morrison from Dewsbury to put some backbone into the players and he as some great experiance playing in the lower division but COYB lets at least have a good shot on Friday

Yeah agree with you totally. CC did a fantastic job bringing success I was a little harsh on him, but as a solicitor he should have been certain of the contracts before committing rather than taking word. There was a feeling he jumped ship knowing what was to come. The first sniff there was a serious problem was the sale of Stuart Fielden, albeit surrounding nobbys departure to wigan. The player never wanted to leave and was extremely upset with the excuses given by the club for his departure. A true legend of the bulls and fans should never forget that. As for barrow I remember the coaches lining up down the main road an impressive sight and we packed out their ground and witnessed a Paul newlove master class in finishing. Oh how we could do with a player like that who is capable of beating the opposition on his own!!

Hang your heads in shame Caisley, Hood and co.Bring on the trips to Whitehaven and Barrow i for one will be there, at least it will be like the old days of jimmy Thompson Jeff Grayshon and nobby grafting hard in the mud for the cause of the club!!!!!!!
Right again, it was a different mindset wasn't it.. we had playmakers at the club, and people who could capitalise on their ability.

We have moved on and it doesn't help to always live in the past, but unfortunately at this moment we have nothing else to fall back on?
