Aaron Finch and Tim Bresnan steady Yorkshire reply
Aaron Finch and Tim Bresnan forged a half-century stand to help Yorkshire set their sights on a first-innings lead in their weather-hit County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Headingley.
The pair put on an unbroken 55 to help Yorkshire reach 183-6 on the third day after rain washed out all but 9.3 overs of the previous day, when they reached 76-2 in reply to Notts' 205.
Their seventh-wicket partnership ensured Yorkshire, who trailed by just 22 runs at lunch, did not concede a big first-innings deficit after losing four wickets for just 45 runs in 11 overs.
Resuming on time, Yorkshire lost their first wicket after only three overs as Jack Leaning fell for a promising 41, bowled by a Luke Fletcher outswinger.
He was followed three overs later by captain Andrew Gale, who edged Peter Siddle to Samit Patel at second slip where he took a sharp catch to his left.
Jonny Bairstow became the first victim for Andre Adams, who replaced Siddle from the Kirkstall Lane End and struck with his fourth ball when he was clipped to short mid-wicket.
Adams claimed his second wicket when Adil Rashid edged to Rikki Wessels at first slip, claiming the catch at the second attempt, before Finch and Bresnan steadied the reply until lunch.
