Heavy rain frustrated Yorkshire’s hopes of establishing a commanding first-innings lead on the second day of their County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Headingley.
Only 9.3 overs were possible during the morning session after Yorkshire resumed on 52-2, still trailing Nottinghamshire by 153 runs, before play has halted, initially, by bad light.
They had progressed to 76-2 but any hopes of resuming play quickly were ended by heavy showers that continued throughout the morning session and left further prospects of play looking bleak.
Jack Leaning, Yorkshire’s 20-year-old batsman playing only his third championship match, progressed to an unbeaten 35 while captain Andrew Gale was unbeaten on 23 when play was suspended.
