Last week's total All Rounder Cricket Equipment Central Yorkshire League washout out has left clubs champing at the bit as they prepare for a hoped-for return to action on Saturday.

Unbeaten Premier Division leaders Scholes will fancy their chances of extending their lead at mid-table Birstall but, with only three points separating the five clubs chasing them, the race for promotion looks like being very close.

This week Ossett go to a Wrenthorpe side slipping uncomfortably close to the relegation zone, and fifth-placed Hopton Mills take on a Mirfield Parish side only five points ahead of the bottom two.

Batley lead the way in the Championship Division, and will expect to have the better of exchanges at home to second-from-bottom Buttershaw St Paul's, but the Bradford side have already sprung a major upset in the Jack Hampshire Memorial Trophy. The leaders should take nothing for granted.

The mid-table clash at East Leeds, where Liversedge are the visitors, could go either way, and its the same story in Division One, where second-from-bottom Mirfield are at bottom club Adwalton. Leaders Westwood Park are at home to second-placed Azaad.

It is the second round of the Jack Hampshire Trophy on Sunday, and Championship promotion hopefuls Northowram entertain Premier side Birstall, giant-killers Buttershaw St Pauls once again face Premier opposition as Altofts visit St Paul's Road, while Batley face Wrenthorpe.

Liversedge go to bottom club Oulton in an all-Championship tie, while the remaining games are: Townville v Wakefield Thornes, Methley v Gildersome, Hunslet Nelson v Hopton Mills and Rodley v Carlton.
