There was a shock in the first round of the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League's Sir James Roberts Cup when holders Salem Athletic were knocked out by Group B side Bowling Baptists.

Bowling made 150 all out, with Shahid Iqbal taking 4-28, but 4-26 from Shazaid Yousaf helped dismiss Salem for 122.

Another Group A side to fall to lower opposition were Apperley, who could only muster 93 in reply to Muff Field's 142-7.

Paul Leach did the damage for Muff Field with 5-53, while, with the bat, Anthony Romano scored 55, Muzakir Khan taking 4-37 for Bridge.

There was a close finish at Great Horton Church, where visitors Interlink won by two wickets.

Church made 165-7, Omar Istihaq making 71 as Mohammed Pandor took 4-30, but, despite losing wickets steadily, Interlink managed to triumph.

Allerton scored 200 against Omars but it was not enough as the visitors passed the score with four wickets down.

For Allerton, Akhill Mukundan scored 65 not out, Shabir Hussain scoring 50 not out and taking 4-31 for the opponents. Majid Hussain took 5-40 and Shmile Khan also scored 50 not out.

Yorkshire LPS defeated Mayfield by eight wickets after Pradip Patel took 4-43 and Bhavin Patel 5-25.

Cambing defeated Great Horton Meths by five wickets, with Amir Shah taking 4-5.

Bradford Gymkhana defeated West Bowling by 45 runs, despite Talat Mahmood taking 5-19, while  Mandhata overcame Cross Roads & Daisy Hill by seven wickets after Naresh Patel bagged 5-14.
