I was naturally disappointed to miss out on last week’s win against Warwickshire.
But after the brilliant leadership shown by Andrew Gale at Lord’s, I don’t think anybody can grumble at being left out now.
I’ve started the season okay form-wise but everybody else has done better, if I’m being honest.
When the international players come back, somebody’s going to have to miss out.
It was me this time. But you never know, a few months down the line I might have three or four hundreds and it will be somebody else.
I feel exactly the same as Galey did. I’ve got to make sure that when I do come back into the team, I get some runs.
To beat a side like Warwickshire by an innings was massive for us. They haven’t started the season off too badly themselves and they had their England internationals back. Ian Bell has been in brilliant form, for example.
To roll them over twice... and watching it in that second innings, our bowling was unbelievable.
The boys have got a spring in their step after that performance and we’re definitely looking forward to playing Lancashire at the weekend.
There hasn’t been a Roses match for a couple of years. I certainly haven’t played in one, so I’m looking forward to playing and doing well.
I actually watched the Headingley game in 2011 when Rich Pyrah got his hundred. We may have lost both games that season but it’s almost a different era now. I know that might sound silly but we’re a different team.
Lancs are a dangerous team, even though they haven’t started the season how they would have wanted, and they could win a couple of games and get on a roll.
If we can beat Birmingham Bears in the Twenty20s before we play that game, it will definitely help. No matter what format you play in, winning puts you in a good frame of mind.
On other matters, I saw that Yohan Blake, the Jamaican sprinter, said that he wants to play for us at some point in the future once he finishes his athletics career.
He is quite a decent bowler by all accounts and it would be interesting if it did happen. I would be surprised to see it happen, but it’s great to have people like him interested in the club.
Running between the wickets with him could be a bit of a problem. You’d just have to hit boundaries!
