The search is on to find the City supporter of the year for 2013-14.

The award has been reinstated by the supporters’ board, the select group of fans who liaise closely with the club on crowd matters.

Board community chairman Phil Abbott said: “The past two years have been somewhat of a repayment to fans for the doldrums of League Two football that many persevered with for a number of years.

“We are aware that Phil Parkinson uses the fans as part of his motivational speeches with the players.

“He often refers to the passion they bring, the huge away followings and the amount of money and effort spent by supporters to follow the team.

“There are many thousands of fans who make incredible efforts to allow themselves and others to continue with this support. The club, alongside the supporters board, wish to recognise this publicly.

“We are looking for people of all ages who have gone that extra mile to support their club this season.

“It’s not necessarily just about who has spent the most, is the most ‘popular’ fan or has travelled the furthest, but also about those who have overcome adversity to attend, promoted the club to others or given a huge amount of time for nothing.”

The short-listed nominees, and their nominator, will be invited to a pre-match ceremony before the first home game of next season. The winner will receive their trophy on the pitch at half-time.

The deadline is May 31 and nomination forms are available on the board website at bcfcsupportersboard.co.uk.
