Wayne Cotton took matters into his own hands as he steered Thornton to an impressive eight-wicket success over Bradshaw in the Foster’s Halifax League Premier Division.
Bradshaw had limped from 41-5 to 167, their departure being hastened by Joe Blencowe’s 5-28.
Thornton lost Chris Ramsden early doors but Cotton was in fine form, smashing 14 fours and a six in his unbeaten 81 from a total of 168-2.
Jer Lane picked up another maximum points haul from their six-wicket win at Southowram.
The home side had little answer to opening bowler Sam Wilson (4-19) and first change Simon Collins (3-66) as they slipped to a meagre 137 all out, Scott Moody and Dean Crossley equalling the top score of 42.
Andrew Pinfield and Raqeeb Younas were dismissed cheaply, but it was all Lane from then on with Jordan Laban’s 46 steering them home on 139-4.
Nick Wood’s 62 for Low Moor was in vain in Division One as his side slumped to a three-wicket defeat at the hands of Northowram Hedge Top, for whom Andrew Gardner picked up 4-36.
Darren Hopkinson remained unbeaten on 100 as Oxenhope beat Queensbury by seven wickets, while Clayton are still looking for their first win after they suffered a 52-run defeat at Luddenden Foot, Gavin Swain gathering 6-49 for the hosts.
Cullingworth are thoroughly enjoying their new surroundings in Division Two as a 78-run success over Old Crossleyans testifies.
The home batsmen generally chipped in well, with Steve Welch’s 34 the best in a total of 154-7.
Crocs were unable to break the shackles and, after being 15-4 at one stage, were finally put out of their misery on 76, with Graham Rankin picking up 4-8 from his nine overs.
Bridgeholme remain hot on Cullingworth’s tail following a six-wicket success over Old Town, Bobby Fielden top-scoring with 54, while Denholme Clough destroyed Greetland, sending the visitors back for just 77, leaving Imad Nasir (36no) and Zhabair Yousef Mohammed (39no) to see them home in quick order.
