Yorkshire’s batsmen piled on the runs on the second morning against Durham at Chester-le-Street.
The White Rose county reached lunch at 451-3 from 126 overs following a wicketless session.
Jonny Bairstow and captain Andrew Gale were both within sight of their first hundreds this season after posting 95 and 98 not out respectively.
Their fourth-wicket partnership had advanced to 194 inside 45 overs, with 152 of the runs added today.
The duo only offered one tough chance during a superb session of batting, with Yorkshire claiming four batting points and Durham just one bowling point.
Gale was dropped by a diving Scott Borthwick at slip off Paul Collingwood on 92.
