Phil Parkinson praised City’s patience as they clinched a top-half finish in League One.

Late goals from Jon Stead and Aaron Mclean earned them a 2-1 comeback triumph at Tranmere – and relegated the home side in the process.City ended the season in 11th spot.

Rovers had led after just five minutes through Matthew Pennington but spent the last hour down to ten men after winger Junior Brown’s red card.

Parkinson said: “When a team goes down to ten men, they sit back into two banks of four and you’ve got to be patient.

“You can’t try to force the issue. You’ve got to wait for the right moment and we did that.

“The way you run the legs out of the opposition is by keeping the ball and I think we did that terrifically well.

“We spoke to the lads all week about going to the final whistle and credit to them.”

Enjoyable game...cracking atmosphere. .and significant hope for Aaron McLean. ..great finish and that's 2 in 2 now...four goals in total but with a full pre season maybe he can be the answer! Eleventh is actually very good....five wins rather than five defeats, or eight wins rather than eight draws and we would have challenged for the last play off place....much to build on over the summer...Go Parky!!

Well done City! I would have taken 11th at the start of the season - I think most would have!
The icing on the cake today was sending that cheating, time wasting shower of a team down to league 2 - good riddance!!

Well done city 11th is great but what about the support it was fantastic not sure what the gate figure was but the sound volume from the city fans was just like an home game and to see a number of home supporters being ejected is not normal.

great finish , pity about the lean long negative spell of poor result's.
Magnificent supporters, as good as any team and got to be a special feeling for the player to have such support, week in week out. I hope we can attract Stead to the club and Aarron Maclean will be the " goods" . Can't wait for August , wonder who we are going to keep and who is going? good luck to all the player's .
