Bradford League-bound Scholes are hoping to go out with a bang in their last Central Yorkshire League season and skipper James Stansfield sees his side go to Hopton Mills at the weekend as one of only two Premier Division sides with maximum points.

In their last game they played host to Hunslet Nelson and gave the visitors little respite. With left-arm paceman Christian Jackson (3-15) and Zain Abbas (5-31) on top of the Hunslet batting throughout they were all out for 99.

Stansfield held the innings together with 53 as Scholes eased home by five wickets.

Birstall have also enjoyed a two-match winning start and are in positive mood ahead of their trip to a Wrenthorpe side now minus several prominent members of their hugely successful side of recent years.

A six-wicket defeat in their game against champions Methley leaves Wrenthorpe with just one point from two games – Luke Patel hitting an unbeaten 83 for Methley.

Birstall (93 all out) made it two outright wins from two after a low-scoring contest with Hopton Mills at Leeds Road. Craig Wood’s 4-18 helped bowl out the visitors for 71 to win by 12 runs.

In the newly-formed Championship, Buttershaw St Paul’s, having lost their first two games, are at home this weekend to a Liversedge side who have won their first two. Paul Marlow’s 46 secured a six-wicket win over East Ardsley in their last game.
