Dale Ferguson believes new recruits Jay Pitts and Joe Arundel will prove top signings for the Bulls.

The Hull FC duo arrived on loan last week and back-rower Pitts enjoyed a fine debut during Sunday’s Tetley’s Challenge Cup win over Catalan Dragons.

Former Castleford centre Arundel was cup-tied but will make his bow in this weekend’s Super League home clash with Warrington – a match which could see Ferguson return to action.

The Scotland international said: “I played against Joe quite a lot when I was at Wakefield and he was at Castleford.

“He’s a class player and Jay was a team-mate of mine at Wakefield just before he went to Leeds.

“I got along with Pittsy very well and he was good for the squad when he was at Wakey.

“I think the prospects of them both doing well at Bradford are very good.”

Head coach Francis Cummins is seeking further new signings and Ferguson added: “The new regime came in and said they were going to get us some more numbers and they’re staying true to their word.

“Joe and Pittsy are class acts who have fitted straight into the squad.”

Ferguson has missed the past two games after suffering a slight recurrence of a persistent back problem.

But he is confident it is only a minor setback and is aiming to be back in action against Warrington on Sunday.

Fellow forward James Donaldson is poised to return after an ankle injury and Ferguson added: “I was aiming to play against Catalan but I certainly hope to be available to face Warrington this weekend.

“I’m happy just to rip straight back in but I also have to be smart about it.

“It’s more a precaution against aggravating it in the long term, so I’m not disheartened because it’s not a major injury.

“Warrington are obviously a class team and physical. That’s why I need to get myself 100 per cent before I jump back in.

“Now we’re getting a few more numbers in, the boys are growing in confidence and I reckon we will start doing well.”
