Francis Cummins was beaming with pride after the Bulls came back from the dead to beat Catalan Dragons 33-20 and book their place in tonight’s Challenge Cup quarter-final draw.

Trailing 16-0 in the opening quarter, Cummins saw his men conjure a highly impressive reply to run in five tries from Lee Gaskell, Jamie Foster (2), Luke Gale and Adrian Purtell.

It was the perfect response to last week’s club-record defeat at Wigan, which prompted managing director Steve Ferres to issue a damning statement.

Cummins said yesterday: “I’ve spent the last couple of weeks trying to stop myself swearing because I’ve been that frustrated.

“I’m having to stop myself swearing today because I’m that excited!

“I’ve never once questioned the character of my players and this was a real boost today for the boys and the staff.

“The fans found their voice again and they helped the players through.

“It’s a proud moment and, while it’s not enough in the bigger picture, it’s a great start. It’s a step forward.”

Catalan, who featured three former Bradford players in Leon Pryce, Elliott Whitehead and Olivier Elima, scored three tries inside the opening 13 minutes.

But Whitehead was soon forced to depart with a suspected broken ankle and was later taken to hospital.

The Bulls gradually assumed control and new recruit Jay Pitts enjoyed a promising debut, although prop Manase Manuokafoa succumbed to a late hamstring injury.

Cummins can look forward to today’s draw with optimism and added: “It was more about mindset but we got them at the right end of the field and showed far greater patience.

“We’ve tried to overplay in recent games but we’ve learnt something today and that’s huge for my young team.”

Cummins deployed Gaskell at full back and Brett Kearney at stand-off and added: “It helped and it gives us another option.

“Jay Pitts put in a great shift, showed some great technique and worked really hard. I thought Luke George was terrific in the centres and, although it took him a little while to get up to speed, he enjoyed the battle.”

Yesterday was owner Marc Green’s birthday and Cummins added: “We’ve got to focus on the process rather than the outcome and we did that today.

“It was very pleasing and people have written us off but today we stood up. It’s probably the most enjoyable game of my reign here and I’m so pleased for the players.”

Tweeting about anyone not turning up yesterday (and 1000s didn't) as not being real fans.

Then trying to pass it off as a joke when he saw the reaction, then tried to blame it on being drunk before apologising after it dawned on him that slagging your customer base off all who helped keep the club going was a idiotic thing to do.

To all the negative people on here who have complained about the losses and the way the losses came about and now the size of the crowd when the team manage to get a win, you are not fans. You sit behind key boards trying wind people and genuine fans up.
News: Bradford got a win Yesterday against all the odds. It was a battleing win that showed character and pride. It may be a rare Win but it was a Win so credit is deserved.
To anybody questioning fans for not turning up we are in a climate of austerity in Bradford in particular and after two matches over the Easter weekend quickly followed by a Challenge Cup match yesterday it is not surprising people decided to keep their money in their pocket particularly after the manner of the last loss. People have one right and that is to protest and the only way to protest is stay away.
Well done to Franny and the boys on Yesterdays win, Lets hope they can build on that and pull off the Impossible and lets hope some of the faithfull come back. And to all the trolls keep going, you make your self look more and more stupid with every post.

It was just last week the club issued an apology to the fans then this week certain employees are slagging them off.

Agreed. Save the wage and get rid. What does he actually do, please someone enlighten me? A wage that could part fund a new singing IMO.

Good win for the boys at the weekend. With regards to the cup look what the cup run did for City 2 years ago.

It can only help us surely.

Is this the same Stu Duffy who stayed on & worked for free ? the same Stu Duffy who agreed to have his hours cut in half for half pay but continues to work almost full time ?

The comments made were a mark of appreciation to the loyal supports who did turn up yesterday. I for one do not blame anyone for staying away especially after the last 3 results & performances but I also salute the loyal fans that were at the game yesterday.

Duffy is no self confessed Rhino he is a loyal employee of the club & to suggest otherwise is totally untrue. Passing comments on social media is not a great way to conduct yourself but people need to understand the staff at Odsal have been under huge pressure & yesterdays win was a massive relief.
The party held in the Coral stand after may have led to a few too many drinks so a sacking is not called for or warranted a quiet word is all that’s needed.

Great game yesterday we showed some real grit & lets hope we can kick on next week against Wire there will be a great air of confidence & lets hope yesterday will kick start our season.

As a 28 year old that has had a season ticket for over 15 years I dont think I do bad. Been part of a family that has sponsored the Bulls majorly for 25 years, also don't think we do bad and do our bit Old Bullybullman.

As a result of the sponsorship above i am quite privy to alot of the happenings at the Bulls past and present and still stand by my comments, "what does he do"

I also know many would agree with me within.

Each to their own and everyone has their own opinion and quite rightly so.

The more important thing for us all is the club and the forthcoming results performances, a great start sunday though!!

PS - Most of what you mention above he does was all what another lady did prior to Admin 1. So I guess he has taken up a few extra duties rather than Social Media Secretary. Fair play for mucking in SD

Credit to the Bulls for taking the chances Catalans gave them. They switched off at 16-0. 30 points without reply showed some much needed fight.

Difference is between this and other games is that Cats dropped off the pace, whereas better sides haven't.

Warrington & Saints up next. Cut out the awful start and they may sneak something against an off form Warrington.

Duffy is a first class idiot.

Spangles, your friendship with Duffy maybe clouding your judgement my amigo. Everybody else who has a different opinion can't be wrong. People have a go at me on here when I mention my old mate Nigel wood. Nigel is a top fella and a rugby man through and through. He might not lean towards the bulls, but that would be difficult to do with him being a Bradford lad and a former northern supporter.

What a sad indictment, when, in an article that bares no mention of a tweet by Stuart Duffy, that nearly 60% of comments relate to that and nearly all the rest rightly defend an individual who has worked his ‘cojones’ off the Bulls – but then I would say that wouldn’t I, seeing as one ignorant cretin seems to think that I’m SD!
Not too surprising then that the majority of those calling for someone’s metaphorical ‘head’ all mostly the resident vacuous trolls which haunt the comment section on here.
What’s up TVOR, need to deflect some attention away from a fantastic Bulls win yesterday? Have you heard from OK yet after the Creditors meeting? You must be extremely frustrated that the T&A don’t print the articles YOU wish to read.

DUFFY the self confessed Rhinos fan. Time this Duffer was sacked. What does he do??? Spends most of his time posting rubbish using different names Viking, Sheffield, Raise them up. Get rid and save a wage. Taxi for DUFFY..
Agreed. Save the wage and get rid. What does he actually do, please someone enlighten me? A wage that could part fund a new singing IMO.

Good win for the boys at the weekend. With regards to the cup look what the cup run did for City 2 years ago.

It can only help us surely.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, haven't read the tweet in question.
However i find your missive most offensive, against someone who has showed loyalty and commitment to the Bulls over many years.
For a start you know nothing of what anyone does at Odsal, otherwise you wouldn't have posted such an offensive piece of drivel.

i only agree with your last paragraph, which is in the style of Ax left in 1963, that well known pundit of irrelevance.
If you aren't him, please accept my apologies, for mistaken identity only.
Contempt for what you said still stands though!

Once again we have allowed the self styled arbiters of our conscience take over the positive aspect of the game.
They are not interesting nor interested people in their thoughts of the game.
We should be saying to FC and the team that it was a pleasure to watch the team coming together with the sole purpose of playing to win the game>
it was great to see each player understanding each other and gelling together when it mattered, which turned out to be 75% of the game.
I felt there was a real understanding and communication between our players and we were never overawed by the opposition. It proved the quotation ,I think from Vincent Lombardi , when it was said winning is 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration. I didn't care about the %ages the result said it all. Let's hope this is the beginning of our struggle for survival in the SL

Too much is being made about this the guy is only airing his frustration fair play its not a very professional thing to do but at the end of the day an off the cuff remark was removed & an apology made get over it. Bet most of those on here making a big deal about it were ones that stayed away !

Yesterday was one of the best games I have watched in a long time the feel good factor was back. We played out of our skins & once we got them on the rack we kept the pressure on simple basic Rugby.

Well done to everyone who went & also to every single member of the squad coaching staff & staff one massive team effort that gave massive relief to great pressure on all involved.

The supporters who went yesterday are the real die hard supporters & you were all magnificent only a small crowed but it filled 70% of the stand & the atmosphere was great.

Its ok if you stayed away I for one fully understand but I hope you will turn up on Sunday give it another go. The whole of the club are working their socks off to improve things so don’t lose faith.

Highlight of the season so far cant wait till Sunday. On the Duffy thing I say let it go.
