  • "Well it would be nice if you two "gloaters" were proved wrong. For our part as supporters we sincerely wish this is the case.

Incidently that's what most real supporters wish for their team, that they win and prove the doubters wrong! If they wished for anything else why would they keep watching their chosen sport and/or their chosen team."

Bradford Bulls: Ferres humble after Wigan whipping

First published in Sport

Bradford managing director Steve Ferres has made a public apology for the Bulls’ humiliating Easter Monday defeat to Wigan.

The Bulls’ 84-6 loss at the DW Stadium was the club's heaviest-ever defeat, eclipsing their 70-6 defeat by Hull in 2012, as Francis Cummins’ team conceded 15 tries to the champions.

In a statement, Ferres said: “On behalf of Bradford Bulls, I would like to apologise for what was a truly woeful and embarrassing display against Wigan Warriors.

“It was, without any doubt, the worst performance I have seen by a Super League side - and one of the worst I have ever seen.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the supporters who gave up a bank holiday, despite the busy Easter Weekend traffic, and made the strenuous journey over the Pennines.

“Our loyal supporters stuck with the team throughout the course of what was a tortuous 80 minutes.

“The squad has hit a low point and a root-and-branch review of what went wrong, why it happened and where we are going is now under way.

“The board of directors accept they have inherited a squad, which has been stripped of talent and hampered by injuries.

“But that cannot be used as an excuse for what happened at the DW Stadium.”
