Callum Geldart hit an unbeaten century as Pudsey Congs romped to a ten-wicket win over a Wrenthorpe side that has won the Heavy Woollen Cup five times in the past seven seasons.

Geldart made 109 not out and shared an unbroken opening stand of 194 with Nick Lindley (71) as Wrenthorpe’s total of 192 was passed in just 24.1 overs.

There were six sixes and 11 fours in Geldart’s century as he and Lindley followed up the 157-run partnership they had compiled in Saturday’s six-wicket league defeat by Cleckheaton.

But the efforts of Geldart and Lindley were surpassed by the new Woodlands opening pair of Duncan Snell and Sam Frankland, who put on 262 as their side defeated Hartshead Moor by 192 runs.

New recruit Snell made 163 not out and Frankland (102) as Woodlands declared after 43 overs with 305-2 on the board. Hartshead Moor were dismissed for 113.

Last season’s beaten finalists New Farnley sent Bradford League champions Cleckheaton crashing out of the competition.

Fine knocks from Lee Goddard (94), Peter Ross (58) and skipper Mark Lawson (45) helped New Farnley make a challenging 276 before dismissing Cleckheaton for 159 to record a 118-run win.

Holders Hanging Heaton saw off the challenge of battling Fosters Halifax League outfit Jer Lane by six wickets. New signings David Paynter (80no) and Nick Connolly (67) helped them overhaul a total of 188-9.

Morley are the fifth Bradford League team in the last 16 after their 67-run win at Barkisland.

Overseas player Kashif Naveed (57) and skipper Matt Baxter (47) guided their side to 287-8. Nathan Bromby secured their success by taking 5-38 as Barkisland were dismissed for 220.

Bradford League Division Two sides Gomersal, Baildon and Spen Victoria all made early exits from the competition.

Gomersal suffered a 25 run defeat against Huddersfield League opponents Moorlands despite Josh Fell making 75.

Peter Jackson made a battling 50 but Spen Victoria were dismissed for 102 as Central Yorkshire League champions Townville romped to an eight-wicket win.

Baildon suffered a three-wicket defeat against Huddersfield League side Slaithwaite after being dismissed for 153.
