James Meredith is poised for a bench spot at the County Ground tomorrow.

The left back has come through his first full week’s training unscathed and will be rewarded with a return to the squad.

The Australian has been sidelined since the start of January after breaking a bone in the top of his right foot during a training run.

But City boss Phil Parkinson promised he would get some involvement before the season is up – and feels the time is now right.

Parkinson said: “James has trained really well and we were thinking of including him on Friday but he had another good day’s worth of training that afternoon.

“He will definitely be involved at Swindon though – he will make the 18-man squad.”

Parkinson will assess the state of his squad before considering any changes. They picked up several bumps and bruises in the win over Peterborough.

He added: “We’ll see how everyone is and we need to regroup. But we also want to finish the season well.

“We’ve got a terrific record away from home recently and we want to continue that.

“We said to the lads before the Peterborough game that being up against a team in the play-offs was a good chance to see how we can compare. Now with Swindon just behind them, it’s another opportunity to do that. But it’s also great to go down there in good spirits with no pressure on us really.”
