Scholes tomorrow open their final Central Yorkshire League campaign, before joining the Bradford League for 2015, away to a Mirfield Parish Cavaliers side eager to show off newest overseas signing Yasir Ali.

Ali was top scorer for Aire-Wharfe League side Thackley last season with 695 runs and is also a leg-break bowler.

But he may find some stiff opposition in the Scholes batting order as the visitors now have former Lightcliffe and Sowerby Bridge batsman Nick Whitehill on board.

Also in the Premier Division, Birstall begin their season at Hunslet but are not expected to have university student Ben Twohig, signed from Bradford League side Woodlands, available until he end of term.

Ossett have a home start against an Altofts side who have struggled to make their mark in the top flight and will be keen to maintain the progress made at Queens Terrace in recent years.

In the newly-established Championship Division, relegated Batley are at home to Northowram while Liversedge host Wakefield St Michaels and Buttershaw St Paul’s are at home to East Ardsley.

The reorganisation of the league sees Division One as the new third tier and all second teams now playing in a new competition.

Mirfield are at Gildersome in their opening Division One game, with Westwood Park at Rodley and Azaad at home to Adwalton.
