Bradford City’s hectic end-of-season run-in continues with all three senior women’s teams still challenging for honours.

The first team hope to follow up their midweek County Cup final win against Leeds United with a tilt at the FA Premier League runners-up spot, starting against Preston at Thackley on Sunday.

A win could lift the in-form City side up to fourth place, while third-bottom Leeds are without a game but are slipping closer to relegation as teams below them make their games in hand.

City’s reserves, who have finished their league fixtures, need Newcastle to do them a favour at home to a Nottingham Forest side three points behind Bradford with two games to play.

The second team do still have a cup final to play, while the A side won 10-0 and 7-0 in last week’s double header against Skipton to seal the West Riding County League Division Three title with a 100 per cent record and a game to spare.

Amee Ruszkai (4), Chelsey Faulkner (2), Kerry Playle, Sophie Dickenson and Annie Nicol scored in game one, with Jess McPherson (2), Lucy Turner (2), Laura Gadd, an own goal and even one from goalkeeper Olivia Cheetham were on target in the second match.

Huddersfield Town could take the Northern Combination title, and promotion to the FA Women’s Premier League, with a win at Cheadle Heath on Sunday.

Guiseley, without a game, promised much early in the season but a top-four finish in the North East Regional League Premier now looks a likely best.

In the league’s South section, Brighouse Town – already champions – hope to finish the season in style at Handsworth.

And in the West Riding League, Premier leaders Farsley are at home to third-placed Harrogate Railway, while Bradford Park Avenue look assured of a mid-table finish as they host bottom club Ossett Town.
