Former Catalan Dragons prop Jamal Fakir was today unveiled as the Bulls’ first signing since new owner Marc Green took control of the club.

The Dragons released Morocco-born Fakir last month after he refused to play with reserve club Saint Esteve XIII for the remainder of the French season.

The Perpignan-based outfit had released an earlier statement stating the 31-year-old France international had been dropped after being below-par in the opening weeks of the season.

Fakir played in the club's first-ever Super League clash against Wigan and was expected to retire but has now been persuaded to take up the challenge at Odsal.

He could make his debut in Sunday’s Tetley’s Challenge Cup fourth-round tie at home to Oldham.

Bulls head coach Francis Cummins, who is hoping to sign another front rower, said: "Generally these type of players don't become available.

"To bring in someone of Jamal's experience and quality, at this stage of the season, I would deem a massive coup for this club."
