It was definitely a bit weird playing Coventry at Northampton the other night.

It felt like a reserve game when I was back at Middlesbrough and you used to play at a ground with nobody in it.

I imagine it must be horrible having to play there all the time. There is no atmosphere.

The lads did well considering because it is difficult to concentrate. I think we limited them to one shot on target all game.

Coventry aren’t a bad team but you can sense they are on a bit of a downward spiral, which is not surprising given the situation. But it was a good point in the end.

The league table looks a lot better than it did a week ago. You’d have taken four points and two clean sheets from the last two away games, especially after the results we had before that against Shrewsbury and Walsall.

It just shows the character of the lads to come back. But it’s always been there.

We’ve had the new lads coming in and it takes time for them to build into the regime. We win games by out-running the opposition.

It’s been a good week but it’s not finished yet. Now it’s important we put on a good show for the home fans against Oldham.

We all agree that it wasn’t good enough against Walsall so we’ve got to go back to Valley Parade and do what we’ve been doing on our travels.

Jon Stead is a good footballer and has settled in quickly with us. The more games he plays, the better he will get – you saw that with how he played on Tuesday.

He’s a presence up there, he is good with his feet and he holds the ball up well. He will also give Hans the time he needs to get right. Hans is a massive player for us but he has to be firing on all cylinders.

A half-fit James Hanson is not good enough. We want him back on top of his game when he’s running around and winning all his headers.
