The final day of the Yorkshire Table Tennis League season produced mixed emotions for the Bradford veterans' teams involved in crucial promotion deciders.

In Division Two, Bradford-2 were vying with Harrogate and Wakefield for the top two places but they knew that victory at home to York-2 would guarantee promotion as their rivals were playing each other.

Bradford finished in style with a convincing 8-2 success, with Deo Jones unbeaten. 

Phil Mann and George Bak both won two and Bradford will have two teams in the top division next season.

In Division Three, the third team were also involved in a three-team tussle - but they faced a more difficult task.

Leeds-2 were on top, and two points ahead of York-3 and Bradford-3, and the third team had to beat the unbeaten leaders and hope that York slipped up at home to Keighley-3.

Sarfraz Khan was back from injury for Bradford, and he and Paul McKrieth were in sparkling form as they both took three singles and the doubles for a 7-3 victory.

Unfortunately, it was in vain as York beat Keighley, meaning all three teams finished with 12 points but Bradford lost out by two sets.

In the Bradford League, Laisterdyke A remain the only team with a 100 per cent record, and they now have a five-point lead over Embassy B at the top of Division Three after their rivals lost at Hermits D and Laisterdyke over came Unity E.
