9:38pm

City will feel they let Coventry off the hook after a one-side goalless draw at Sixfields tonight.
Watched by a crowd of only 1,673, the visitors dominated and had all the genuine chances to break the deadlock.
Coventry were grateful to keeper Joe Murphy for pulling off two superb first-half saves to deny Aaron Mclean and Jon Stead.
And Adam Reach was left cursing the woodwork when his header from Kyle Bennett’s cross bounced off the underside of the bar.
The draw takes City up to 49 points and ever closer to League One security. But Phil Parkinson will know it should have been more after another convincing away performance.

9:34pm

McGeouch whizzes a dangerous low cross into the box but nobody on the end of it. And that's the whistle, 0-0

9:33pm

Adams just wellied the ball 70 yards forward. Bit dark ages eh??!!

9:32pm

Two minutes of added time to play

9:31pm

We can see you sneaking out.... City director of operations David Baldwin has made an early getaway!

9:27pm

Second City change as Thompson replaces Bennett, who has played very well

9:26pm

Important header at the other end from Darby to concede Coventry corner - which McArdle deals with

9:25pm

It's cleared back to Jones and his second cross is smothered at the far post as Mclean looks to sneak a shot home

9:24pm

But City have a corner in front of their own fans...

9:24pm

Webster makes a key header to clear Jones free-kick as Davies comes rushing into the goalmouth

9:23pm

And now McGeouch replaces Marshall for Coventry

9:22pm

But first here comes Chris Atkinson in place of Dolan

9:21pm

McGeouch about to be Coventry's third change.

9:18pm

Coventry subs finally coming on. Off go Robinson and Eccleston

9:17pm

But here's Moussa in space.... feeds Baker corner of the box.... and McHugh makes a sliding block

9:16pm

Thomas and Delfouneso getting ready to come on

9:15pm

Steven Pressley has seen enough of his toothless team and is ready to make two changes

9:15pm

More moans and groans from the locals as Eccleston's charging run down the right flank ends with a poor pass picked off by Jones

9:10pm

Stead volleys wide after flick-on from Mclean. He claims a deflection but Chris Foy not interested

9:09pm

9:07pm

Bennett again torments Christie before looking for Reach but this time the other winger cannot make contact with the cross

9:07pm

Bennett again torments Christie before looking for Reach but this time the other winger cannot make contact with the cross

9:04pm

Coventry looking increasingly ragged

9:02pm

Great skills from Bennett but he lets himself down with a poor pass behind Mclean in the box.

9:00pm

McLaughlin suddenly called upon to make a fine save with his legs from Eccleston. But the offside flag was up - although the City keeper wasn't to know that

8:59pm

Christie tries to inspire a Coventry counter-attack but his cross is smothered by McLaughlin

8:57pm

Sooner or later City are surely going to take the lead. They will be kicking themselves if they don't win this one...

8:54pm

City within a whisker as Bennett's cross is headed against the bar by Reach!

8:54pm

But frustration creeping into the main/only stand. "Are you still out there Frank?" shouts one fan at Moussa

8:53pm

Scrappy start to the half - as it was in the first half

8:52pm

8:51pm

It's Dolan... and it booms straight into the sky blue wall

8:51pm

Stead bundled over 30 yards out. Jones and Dolan both fancy this...

8:50pm

The crowd tonight is 1,673, so it's not quite the lowest yet. There are 327 here from West Yorkshire

8:49pm

Coventry start the second half with another shot but it's so wide that Marshall's effort goes out for a throw-in

8:32pm

One-sided first half but it's still goalless

8:31pm

One minute of added time to play as Baker has Coventry's first shot on target. Ironic applause from the home fans ...

8:30pm

City go close again as McHugh's close-range shot in a scramble is blocked in front of the line by Christie

8:28pm

But City have a corner. Can they turn pressure into some reward?

8:28pm

Davies nods down from Jones free-kick for Reach to have a pop. But he drives it straight into centre half Webster

8:28pm

Mclean looks in a bit of discomfort with his arm but he's going to carry on. He takes a fair whack every game

8:27pm

8:27pm

Four minutes of normal time to the break

8:25pm

The big minus for Phil Parkinson will be the scoreline. City have bossed this and should be in front

8:21pm

Bennett and Darby linking well on City's right. Looking to get forward as often as possible

8:19pm

First hint of a Coventry threat as Baker puts in a decent cross. Eccleston jumps to meet it but can only get a glancing head on the ball

8:16pm

8:14pm

First Coventry corner is meat and drink for Darby at the near post

8:12pm

Another fine save from Murphy from Jon Stead's shot on the turn after Bennett feeds him in the box.

8:11pm

City definitely the sharper team in the opening 20 minutes. You can see the confidence is back after Saturday

8:08pm

The striker meets McHugh's cross with a downward header which looked to be bouncing inside the far post but the Coventry keeper does superbly well to claw it away

8:07pm

Mclean denied a second goal in successive games by a fine save from Murphy

8:06pm

First genuine chance as Reach bamboozles Christie by the corner flag and tees up Dolan. He drives firmly at goal from inside the box and it deflects wide off Willis.

8:05pm

Stead linking the play well. You can see why Mclean was waxing lyrical about him in the paper today

8:04pm

Good defending from Darby to stick with Marshall and force the winger's attempted cross back off him for a goal kick

8:00pm

Pressley volleys ball down the touchline for City to take a throw-in. Bit of a long ball that... #stoneage

8:00pm

You can hear individual chants from the Coventry fans...

7:59pm

City keep getting caught offside

7:56pm

Tidy build-up for City before Jones drives low and wide from 25 yards

7:56pm

McArdle again comes to Darby's rescue to stop Eccleston in his tracks after he slips past the right back

7:54pm

Stead's gallop down the left flank ended illegally. Jones free-kick cleared as far as Dolan who fires straight at keeper Murphy

7:52pm

Dolan wins a thudding 50/50 challenge with Baker right on the touchline

7:51pm

Mclean very busy in the opening minutes but no tempo to the game so far

7:50pm

Loose pass from McHugh allows Marshall to zip past Darby's lunging tackle. McArdle in right place to clear the cross

7:48pm

There are six fans on the hill overlooking the corner of the ground. One's even brought his own chair...

7:46pm

At least the away fans are trying to make a bit of noise

7:46pm

Coventry get us underway kicking towards the City fans

7:45pm

Coventry team being announced by a group of American kids. Nope, I'm not joking.... Aaanton Raaabinson...

7:43pm

7:43pm

Mr Blue Sky greets the arrival of the teams...

7:39pm

Estimate about 300 City fans made the trip, maybe more

7:34pm

Coventry's lowest "home" crowd this season is 1,603 v Carlisle. This has got to be close

7:33pm

Garry Thompson has just cleared the stand with a shot in the warm-up....

7:31pm

Coventry missing two centre halves as well as Wilson. Seems a good time to play them - if City are on their game like Saturday

7:23pm

7:23pm

Hello.... hello.... anybody there???? It's soooo quiet!

7:10pm

7:10pm

Just over half an hour til kick-off and very, very few people in here. Players and stewards outnumber fans at the moment!

7:05pm

7:05pm

Coventry are missing their 22-goal top scorer Callum Wilson with a heel injury.

Blackpool striker Nathan Eccleston makes the first start of his loan with Franck Moussa likely to play just behind him in a 4-4-1-1 formation.

COVENTRY: Murphy, Christie, Webster, Willis, Adams, Baker, Prutton, Robinson, Marshall, Moussa, Eccleston. Subs: Thomas, Delfouneso, McGeouch, Garner, Haynes, Finch, Burge.

6:59pm

Change of ref, one Premier League official for another as Chris Foy replaces Lee Probert

6:45pm

Carl McHugh is rewarded for his excellent performance off the bench at Leyton Orient with a start tonight.

He comes in at left back for the injured Adam Drury - the only change from the weekend win.

James Pollard, who was on the bench at Wolves, replaces fellow youth player Jack Stockdill as a sub. Chris Atkinson comes in for Raffaele De Vita.

CITY: McLaughlin, Darby, McArdle, Davies, McHugh, Bennett, Dolan, Jones, Reach, Mclean, Stead. Subs: Thompson, McBurnie, Atkinson, Pollard, Bates, Yeates, Bentley.

6:24pm

6:20pm

6:20pm

City have just arrived but there's no sign of James Hanson.

6:19pm

Good evening and welcome from Coventry, sorry, I mean Northampton for City's game against the nomadic Sky Blues.

Apologies in advance if I mention Northampton by mistake at some point but it is very confusing.

City playing good stuff. Stead looking good, Reach looking good, Bennett looking good and Mclean looking good. Four crap signings...PP is clueless. Dolan also influencing the game with some neat touches.

Another very good away performance to add to Saturday's with a win perhaps even more deserved than v Orient. Jon Stead seems to be an excellent acquisition which makes you wonder why we didn't negotiate his permanent transfer when Nahki was going the other way to H'field.

Stead and the rapidly improving (game on game) Bennett were two best for City, but, after two clean sheets in a row away, you have to also give credit to the defence. 1600 fans in stadium (in Northampton) 300 plus were Bantams' fans, which means ex-top tier (for years and years) Coventry are reduced to a home support of under 1500.

I do feel sorry for Coventry because clearly playing at 'home' (??!!) isn't a particularly motivating experience/they're suffering hard times but, City can only play where they have to and who they're up against and be professional about it. Tonight BC did this and more.

So, from leaving the field at 'VP' a week ago to a chorus of boos, the team will likely emerge to wild enthusiastic cheering this Saturday! Whoever said 'a week's a lifetime in politics' could also add' football too.' Two poor performances/results followed by two very good ones. Now 'PP' needs to motivate the players to play out of their skins v Oldham on Saturday because one more win should mean, worries over!! The fans, particularly the one who went to Orient/Northampton, deserve it. Well done BCAFC!!

PS: Mr Mourhino, your most unfavourite referee suited US just fine!!

Whilst you ironically can't practice what you preach VC.

Seems strange that when the bilious and hateful are made to look foolish following two strong performances and two clean sheets that they don't wish to have their folly brought back into play but they are happy to slag off all and sundry after a defeat. PP, Mclean, Bennett were all getting slated a week ago. Those who defended them last week have every right to make their point after the last two games.

There are about 4 or so that come on here with their righteous defence of everything (I think it makes them feel they are a superior fan). I do criticize and challenge other posters but I also put my opinion on first, for others to criticize, challenge or maybe agree. Do you?

Bennett looks a player to me, great feet, close control and a player that would flourish in the Valley Parade environment, hopefully BCFC will be able to sign him for next season, Stead has the pedigree, will be interesting to see how he fairs for the rest of his loan spell, very promising so far. Excellent point tonight with what seems like a very good all round team performance. Very good turnout again by the BCFC fans, 327 well done to every single one of you BCFC fans. Think the Oldham game will be a cracker!!!!

Hello Victor.

The ones that you describe as righteous (and I would include myself in that category) are faced with two considerations: -

(1) Trying to defend against some of the more outrageous comments placed on here; and
(2) Actually/ genuinely believing in the club i.e. the owners and/or the management team and/or the staff.

In challenging some of the more absurd rants (in my opinion) it is inevitable that battle lines are drawn. It is then difficult to get to the point where a constructive chat can take place.

'Knight' was obviously letting some annoyance out and I can only agree with his 'take'.

On to more positive note, I thought it was an excellent performance last night. I did fear that Coventry would come back strongly in the second half as it is very difficult to go away from home and dominate both periods.

It is a pity that Kyel Reid was missing last night. With room to play, and on a decent surface, I think he would have caused havoc. In any case, the link-play 'up top' was excellent.

Players are paid good money to work as hard but, without exception, they all put in a good shift in. Without wishing to single one person out, I thought McLean could not have tried any harder.

Whilst I may not agree with some stuff posted on here I would defend the right to say it (well - most of it!).

Or to criticise the point rather than the person - although I must admit I fell in to that trap myself replying to someone who makes out that they commercial director at the club or something similar in a bit of a morally superior way, just trying to put people down quite a lot of the time.

There are about 4 or so that come on here with their righteous defence of everything (I think it makes them feel they are a superior fan). I do criticize and challenge other posters but I also put my opinion on first, for others to criticize, challenge or maybe agree. Do you?
Hello Victor. The ones that you describe as righteous (and I would include myself in that category) are faced with two considerations: - (1) Trying to defend against some of the more outrageous comments placed on here; and (2) Actually/ genuinely believing in the club i.e. the owners and/or the management team and/or the staff.
1) if the comments are that outrageous why bother?
2) absurd rants - if they are so, you dont need to bother?
or do you think we are thick?
most of the stronger comments are made after a poor performance, so dont you think other fans might be letting off a bit of steam!
by your own admittance you dont have any balance to your comments, yet you have the gall to question others!

By stating "do you think we are thick" you are instantly casting yourself in the role of a victim.

Until now, I have not gained any impression to suggest that you are thick.

As for your "why bother?" remark, it is my business as to whether I choose to hit back at opinions I do not agree with. I do not think that public defamation / vilification via a keyboard should go unchecked.

If you (or others like you) wish to let of steam then do you not think that others are entitled to have a go back at you?

I have not stated that my comments are unbalanced. I said that it is difficult to converse in view of the circumstances presented so please do not twist my words.

If you took more responsibility in what you are saying, rather than using the club as a punch bag, then it might be easier? It might be your hobby but there are people's careers and livelihoods at stake.

No, I am not casting myself as thick or a victim. I wasn't even talking about myself. I was merely answering your points. A bit too straight forward for you I think. Btw, I like football and like talking about it (not saying I know a lot) and I don't appreciate your condescending posts.

QUOTE: "or do you think *we* are thick?". 'We' refers to self and others. If you had stated 'they' then you would be making sense.

If you think my posts are condescending, then I have no problem with that.

However, what I would suggest is that you argue the point rather than with the person making it. That might seem condescending but it is the advice I would offer to anyone who does not agree with another person.

It is not worth the time of day getting involved in a personal vendetta.
