Bradford Dragons under-13s have become the first team of any age-group to reach the semi-finals of the English Basketball League play-offs.
They beat London Baltic Stars 87-85 and now play in the final fours at the University of Worcester a week on Saturday.
Dragons junior head coach Tamas Okros said: “This game turned out more difficult than it could have been, as two of our key players had to retire early in the game.
“We played a nervewracking game against a talented London Baltic Stars team. We’re ecstatic with the win and proud to be the first dragons team in our 13-year history to reach the final four.”
Bradford Dragons under-15s were unable to triumph over another London-based team, Peckham Pride, as they lost 75-55. The loss, however, established the under-15s as one of the top eight sides in England.
Dragons first team made it six wins in a row with a 80-73 victory over Manchester Magic to claim third spot in EBL Division One.
Chris McGrew top-scored with 24 points, Dan Foley 16 and Nathan Ashley 12.
Dragons’ next EBL Division One home game is against third-placed Hemel Storm on Saturday. Tip-off is 6.15pm in the Dragons Den in the sports hall at Bradford College.
