Tom Priestley is letting go of his ‘baby’ – the Gordon Bowers Eight-A-Side Competition.
“Joan Peel and myself have run it for 31 years – Joan as secretary and treasurer and myself as organiser – and we thought it was time to let somebody younger have a go,” said Priestley.
“The Bradford Junior League will now be running it as an under-nines event but we have made it known that we want the finals to be on a Sunday at Undercliffe Cricket Club in September as that is a fixed date in the calendar as far as we are concerned.”
All clubs in the Bradford Junior League have been invited to take part in 2014, as well as teams from outside the league who competed in 2013.
The event was run at under-12 level until 2009, when it reverted to under-nines.
