Cullingworth's Ellie Bowden, 13, won her last-16 match 4-3 before losing 2-0 to French national team player Tiavo Randrianisa in the quarter-finals. The French girl went on to win the competition comfortable, beating rivals from Denmark and USA in the semi-final and final respectively.

Silsden's Jamie Simpson-Kidd, 11, lost to Ahmet Baris of the Netherlands, who last year competed in the Cadet European Championships. Baris went on to claim the bronze medal.

The event attracted 1,400 competitors representing 269 teams from 68 countries, including USA, Egypt, Australia and Turkey.
