West Bowling are through to the Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup final.

The Bradford Sunday Alliance League team defeated Division 1A Wyke Rangers 5-0 in a semi-final that was spoilt by a strong wind blowing straight down the field at Eccleshill United.

Bowling were 4-0 ahead at half-time and, although Wyke had plenty of chances in the second half, the only goal went to the defending Premier Division champions in the last minute, courtesy of a Rangers defender’s deflection from a cross in the last minute.

Jack Murphy (3) and Chris Wood had earlier put Bowling in command.

On Sunday, it is semi-final time again, this time in the league’s GOALS Intermediate Cup at Rawdon Meadows (11am).

Division 2A Sporting Pudsey take on fellow promotion candidates Salthorn WMC from Division 2B, who are already in the Bradford & District FA Sunday Cup final.

The semi-final on the adjoining pitch is between Oddfellows Celtic, from Division 2A, and Division 1A leaders Bolton Woods Socials, who have only been beaten twice in the league this season.

In the Premier Division, Buttershaw White Star, who dropped only their second point of the season last week, face second-placed Sandy Lane at Manningham Mills. White Star won 4-2 in the reverse fixture.

Leaders West Bowling take on much-improved Thornton United at Emsley’s Recreation Ground in a match that they really need to win to keep up their challenge to Buttershaw White Star.

In Division One, Buttershaw Celtic will hope to return to winning ways after last week’s defeat to Lane Ends when they visit inconsistent Manningham.

Second-placed Thornbury Celtic lock horns with fourth-placed Allerton in another important fixture.
