Bulls stand-off Lee Gaskell says the support he has received from his team-mates and backroom staff is helping him through his injury setback.

The close-season signing from St Helens sustained a knee injury at Wakefield on February 20 and it was revealed he had suffered medial collateral ligament (MCL) damage.

Gaskell was told he would be sidelined for up to 12 weeks but he is confident his rehab is progressing well.

He said: “It’s a bit annoying at the minute because everyone is getting ready for games and you’re just coming in to do rehab.

“You’ve got to get over that first and help out the lads because they have been great with me.

“I’ve had some very good support from the players and the coaching staff.

“That makes it easier so you’ve got to help out the lads and do what you can for the team.”

Gaskell did not require surgery but his knee is still in a brace as he recovers from the injury.

He said: “There was no operation needed, it just kind of mends itself.

“I’ve had this cast on for about four weeks now and should be out of it in a week, so hopefully I’m on track.

“I hope it will be an eight to ten-week absence rather than the full 12 weeks. I can then push on from there.”
