It’s coming up to the time of the year when players vote for their division’s team of the season.

I haven’t really given it much thought yet but the player who has stuck out for me is Luke Freeman for Stevenage.

He looked a very neat and tidy player when we went down there and you saw his ability with the two goals he scored at Valley Parade.

We’re not allowed to nominate our own team-mates but if I could, I’d put Stephen Darby in there because he’s been excellent all year.

He’s worked so hard and he’s the type of winner you want to keep at the football club. I’d also put Rozza in there because I love playing next to him – we know each other’s game so well and always have one another’s back.

I was delighted to see Darbs given the captaincy when Jonah was ill. He deserves it because he’s played every game and is just so consistent.

He’s a true professional and does all the right things. Darbs is a fantastic footballer but I still think there is so much more to come.

He is going to get better and better, which will hopefully be great news for Bradford City.

I’ve asked him a few times about his contract because I really think this is the best club for Stephen.

He’s got a manager who thinks the world of him and a team around him who work so hard for each other, especially in the back four. This is the club to bring out the best in him.

I know Darbs has been to other places on loan but he hasn’t had the rave reviews that he has earned here.

As I’ve always said, this is a brilliant club to be at. It’s a massive club with so many passionate fans – why would you want to look anywhere else?

Stephen has got himself noticed with Bradford, playing well last season with the cup run and getting promoted and he has carried on that form this year.

Fans will always be on your side if you give 110 per cent each week and he does that.
