Richard Lamb could learn today whether his bid to buy Bradford Bulls has been successful after Mandy Koukash all but accepted defeat in the battle for ownership of the Super League club.

The London-based businessman is fronting a consortium of wealthy backers from the capital and is hoping administrator David Wilson will finally accept their offer.

The long-running saga took another twist yesterday when Mrs Koukash revealed Mr Wilson had indicated her offer had fallen short of rival bids.

She said on Twitter: “I am hearing my bid will not be the winning one. My bid was focused on helping the Bulls.

“As I understand, the RFL has nothing to do with the decision. It is based on the highest bid to pay the old debt.”

Mandy Koukash was one of several bidders, which included consortiums from Bradford City, Bradford Park Avenue and businessman Marc Green, who is owed around £250,000 following a loan he made to OK Bulls last September.

It was thought Mr Green, who as the debenture holder is the club's principal creditor, could look to take control of the club himself.

But it is understood the administrator and Rugby Football League are edging towards giving Mr Lamb’s consortium the green light.

Mr Lamb told the T&A: “As I’ve said all along, as and when we’ve got an understanding of how big the task is, I’ll look to find the investors to support the club going forward.

“Any proposal from me is based on a clear understanding on how much money is needed to turn the club around.

“We have sought to ensure we have enough investment to take the club forward this season and future seasons.

“Fans don’t need to worry about that, but it’s down to the administrator and the RFL now.

“The main thing is that as and when they see fit, they will make a decision and then whoever is lucky enough to take the club forward will have a lot of hard work to do in the next few weeks.

“That is hugely important because the club is in a state of flux right now and needs to be in a better position than they are currently in the table.

“Things need to move quickly but we believe we have put together a convincing plan that will work.”

A decision on the club’s ownership could be made today or tomorrow and Mrs Koukash said she would be willing to come on board as an investor with any new owners.

The wife of controversial Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash made a high-profile attempt to buy the club, which has been in administration since January 31.

She attended the home 66-18 defeat to Huddersfield Giants on Sunday with her husband and two children.

Despite her bid apparently failing, Mrs Koukash added: “If possible, I would consider working with the winning bidder.”
