Francis Cummins is looking forward to crossing swords with former Bradford star Scott Naylor after the Bulls were paired with Oldham in the Challenge Cup fourth round.

Naylor played in three Challenge Cup finals for Bradford, winning two of them, and turned out in four Super League Grand Finals, twice as a winner.

Now coach of the Championship One outfit, he will be guaranteed a warm reception when he returns to Odsal on the weekend of April 5 or 6.

Cummins played against Naylor in the 2003 Challenge Cup final at the Millennium Stadium, when Bradford beat Leeds 22-20.

The Bulls head coach said: “We’re pleased to be at home first and foremost because I think you’ve got to be, and it’s good that, the position we are in at the moment, we have avoided another Super League club.

“Oldham are in a lower division but we won’t be taking them lightly and I know Scott Naylor will have his players fired up.”

Cummins revealed he recently spoke to Naylor about the prospect of some of his younger players heading out to Oldham on loan or dual registration.

He explained: “I speak to Scott quite often. We might need the odd player to go out on loan and I was talking to him only last week about that.

"Dewsbury, our partnership club, have a big squad so it’s difficult for one or two of our younger lads to go out and play there.

“I’ve spoken to Scott about that prospect and we’re now playing Oldham, so it’s quite ironic.”

There were five all-Super League ties to come out of the hat yesterday and, although surviving relegation is the priority, Cummins believes the famous old trophy has retained its allure.

He added: “For me the Challenge Cup has not lost its shine – the profile of the competition is still there.

“I had lost two finals previously in 1993 and 1994, so to beat London in ’99 was third time lucky. To win it is something special.”

Keighley Cougars, meanwhile, were drawn at home to Championship rivals Barrow.

The tie of the round will be between Huddersfield, the 2013 Super League leaders, and current table-toppers St Helens.

There is a local derby at Wakefield, where Leeds will be the visitors, while Hull KR host 2012 winners Warrington, Salford go to Hull and Catalan Dragons will be at home to London Broncos.

* Cummins is also on the verge of agreeing an extended loan stay with Huddersfield prop Anthony Mullally.

Adam Sidlow is aiming to return from illness and be available for Sunday’s trip to Hull KR but Chev Walker will miss out after being handed a one-match ban.
