Platinum pair Christopher Windle and Jake Leeming are the pride of the county.

The two 13-year-olds from the Bradford amateur club have boxed their way through the Yorkshire section of the national schoolboy championships.

Windle went over familiar ground to beat Doncaster-based Rory Hutton to maintain his perfect eight-bout record.

Coach David Nelson said: “Christopher had boxed him before and won comfortably once again. He was brought down to the other kid’s level a bit and didn’t perform as well as usual but he was still well on top.”

Windle now goes through to the national quarter-finals in the midlands later this month.

Meanwhile, Leeming won his Yorkshire title with a third-round stoppage against D Evans (Burmantofts).

It was his tenth victory from 12 attempts and eighth on the bounce. He faces a pre-quarter-final bout this weekend.

Nelson said: “They probably should have stopped it sooner. Jake was getting some really big shots off.

“We’ve got high expectations for these two. They’ve both been with us for 16 to 17 months and they are improving all the time.”
