Silsden feel they still have work to do to safeguard their place in the North West Counties League Premier Division but Tuesday’s performance at Runcorn Linnets proves they have not lost any of their spirit.
The Cobbydalers are sixth from bottom and just seven points above the trapdoor but they have games in hand on four of the clubs below them.
They face a tough trip to fourth-placed Glossop North End on Saturday but they gave a good account of themselves in their 1-0 loss in midweek.
Runcorn returned to the top of the table with the three points, and Cobbydalers’ spokesman Jim Rosser said: “We played really well against a very good side, even though it ended in a narrow defeat. The young lads in the team are certainly putting the effort in.”
