Bank Top Harriers and Queensbury face contrasting circumstances going into their Jack Senior Memorial Bradford Cup first-round clash at Lidget Green on Saturday.

The Harriers, who have a small squad, are suffering an injury crisis which caused them to produce a no-show at Thornhill last week.

Pennine League rules dictate they will be automatically relegated but they looked doomed for the drop regardless, having yet to win a Premier Division match.

They must delay team selection for tomorrow pending a head count but, whoever takes a jersey, they have a nucleus of players who will cause Bury trouble. Finn Lamont is one of the best attacking full backs around and centre Jason Gelder is always a danger in sight of the try line.

By contrast, Championship mid-table Bury are going from strength to strength, with an abundance of talented players. Player coach Andy Senior has a welcome headache, saying: “We have some really tough decisions to make with no injuries. The rested Scot Swann and Rob Nagy are also back in contention.

“The cup gives us the chance to test our fast-improving side against a team from the top division.”

West Bowling will miss play-making stand-off Aidy Leek (calf strain) when they host Pennine League Premier Division leaders Hunslet Old Boys.

The visitors will be desperate to claim the two points on offer to keep title favourites Sharlston Rovers, who have games in hand, at bay.

Wibsey Warriors, who are now certain of keeping their Premier berth next term, should make home advantage count in their favour against Keighley.

Wyke must win to keep any chance of avoiding the drop from Division One when bottom side Selby Warriors arrive at Towngate.

Unbeaten Division Four leaders Victoria Rangers are at home to Burley Lions, who are at the wrong end of the table, in the second round of the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy.
