The top two teams in Division Two of the Bradford League are putting daylight between themselves and the chasing pack following important wins in the latest round of fixtures.

Leaders Hermits B had a comfortable 7-3 victory at bottom side Yeadon A, with Keith Powell unbeaten while Hassan Gerrard and Paul McKrieth added two wins each.

Yeadon B, in second position, faced fourth-placed Pudsey A and matched their Hermits rivals’ result in a vital success that maintains their challenge.

Deo Jones took three wins as Michael Chang and Steve Winnard added two each, with the 7-3 outcome leaving them six points behind Hermits but 20 clear of Highdale C and Pudsey.

The bottom of Division Three is becoming a real dogfight, with only three points separating the bottom four teams.

Baildon A moved out of the relegation places with a narrow 6-4 victory at Unity E.

Bill Sugden finished unbeaten for Unity but Baildon took the honours as Rod Willey and Peter Warner won twice each and Steve Crossland added a single, before teaming up with Warner to clinch the decisive doubles.

Division Five leaders Hermits I have swept all before them so far and were looking to make it a league and Theobould Trophy double.

But they were foiled in the handicap competition by Baildon C and then suffered their first league defeat as they lost 6-4 at Fastbats E.

David Adams, with three singles wins, and Owen Li, who won twice, dented Hermits’ 100 per cent record but it will not stop them taking the title as they lead by 70 points.
