Bradford Bulls confirm that London Broncos game goes ahead

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Bulls chief executive Robbie Hunter-Paul belives that the club will walk tall again Bulls chief executive Robbie Hunter-Paul belives that the club will walk tall again

Bradford Bulls have today confirmed that Sunday's home match against London Broncos will go ahead in the First Utility Super League - despite yesterday's announcement regarding representatives of Bradford Bulls 2014 Ltd withdrawing their offer to purchase the club.

Bulls' chief executive Robbie Hunter-Paul said: "We have a duty and responsibility to make sure that we are capable of staging Super League action, in order to maintain the sport's integrity.

"Luckily, the majority of the staff we have in place at The Provident Stadium have years of experience in terms of delivering top-flight rugby league.

"Despite yesterday's announcements, I am personally excited about what is a very important game for Francis (Cummins) and the boys.

"This was always going to be a tough season, though I am confident in the players' ability.

"With the support of the Bulls faithful, I believe we can turn this around and walk tall."

The decision of the Rugby Football League to impose the maximum six-point deduction on the club for breaching their insolvency regulations for the second time in two years prompted the prospective new owners to walk out.

Mark Moore, chairman of Bradford Bulls 2014 Ltd which agreed a sale with the administrators last Friday, withdrew his offer and launched a scathing attack on the RFL for placing the club in special measures, thereby preventing them from signing any more players.

The RFL hit back with an unusually strong response, blaming Moore's failure to go through with a £300,000 offer to previous owner Omar Khan for the club's latest crisis.

That left Leeds-based accountant David Wilson running the club once more but the RFL remain confident of finding new buyers.

RFL director of standards and licensing Blake Solly said: "There are still two bids on the table that the administrator can have a look at.

"We're also working with a number of other parties who contacted us in the last 28 days expressing an interest in the club. We will be working with the administrator to try and ensure the club has a viable and solvent future."

Lamb, who was involved in rugby league commercially during the 2013 World Cup, confirmed he is still keen to acquire the club and has offered to provide staff to help organise Sunday's home game against London Broncos.

"My desire has not changed from last week," Lamb tweeted. "To lead your great club."

Bradford chief executive and former captain Robbie Hunter-Paul will represent the club at Wednesday's Super League meeting when he is expected to provide an update.

Lamb added: "I am waiting for David to come back to me, hopefully by the end of this week.

"I have told him if the club needs support at the weekend with staff and personnel I'd bring some people up from London to help."

Moore claimed in his farewell tirade that the points deductions means relegation for the Bulls is "almost a certainty" but Lamb says he has no issue with the sanctions and insists that a drop into the Championship would not be fatal.

"If that's the rules of the governing body, then you have to take it," he said.

"Hopefully, if we are successful, we can make sure that this season we perform as strongly as we can.

"If it resulted in the club going into the Championship, then - as we've seen in Premiership rugby and a number of other sports - as long as you run the club effectively and efficiently, then you can return, in this case, to Super League in the following season."

I've got a growing respect for Mr Cummins just read his statement on Sky Sports website and I think he's probably had it tougher than any one in the last 18 months. The man is accountable for the most important part of the club (the rugby team) and yet the board and the RFL just can't see beyond themselves.

Thank you Mr Cummins for your effort & commitment, COYB!!!!!!

What do you mean about Robbie H. not one of you know the man you are castigating with your ill judged comments.

He has stuck with the club through some of the most difficult times anyone, should have to face.

But it doesn't matter who is at the club, they will always be lambasted by the cowardly cretinous idiots that seem to infest this site.
may I suggest you get yourself to Odsal on Sunday and say these accusations directly to his face, or is it that you prefer to hide behind your personal inadequacy, in print, and by using a pen name?

Sadly, it's not difficult to criticise recent Boards at Odsal.

The latest revelations from RFL shouldn't surprise any of us.

They've reduced the club to a laughing stock. I was amazed we even started the season. Robbie Paul states he is "personally excited"...I rest my case!

i'm a BRADFORD sports fan.
i used to go to odsal before the circus that is super league.
sky have ruined the sport by making clubs over rely on them.
yes i am a city fan and i am happy to be in league one debt free than premier league debt ridden chasing a stupid dream.
i live near odsal stadium and it saddens me to see what is happening.
at the end of the day you cannot be involved and not have known something was wrong.
ignorance is not an excuse.
like someone as stated, make it a clean start going forward.

If you read the statement from Mr Moore he says they were made aware of the RFL position - including the points deduction at a meeting on 12th February. Last Friday the directors and Robbie HP were jubilant when they said their deal had been accepted. As soon as the points deduction is publically announced Bulls directors withdraw their offer. They clearly have not been open with the Bradford public and led everyone down the garden path. That appears to also include Robbie HP. He has acted as CEO and described as a director and clearly will have known the truth after the meeting on the 12th February. Perhaps RHP should set the record straight as to his involvement and/or step aside with immediate effect. I fear not many will believe a word he say (spins) in future.

If Bradford Bulls is to survive all those involved in the debacle over the last two years should step aside.

Take your head out of the sand Brian. You've been dumped on by your shabby little club time after time and you still won't hear a word said against Rob the nob. He's is perhaps the worst of the lot, taking money from the owners who use him to dupe the hard of thinking into parting with their cash. He's worse than the rest and should be held in contempt by all who think anything of your club.

Lamb looks the best bet at the minute, was amazed when the Moore consortium got the administrators nod, looks like the Leeds firm got it totally wrong. As Lamb says, if the Bulls get relegated it wont be the end of the world, at least Lamb isn't looking at the Sky money when saying that. This season is far from a lost cause and relegation isn't a given. The Bradford Bulls fans need to get right behind the team, do that and all is not lost!!!!

This transaction I think was because the sale of the Club had not gone through and until such time it made it difficult, as explained on the Bull site.

Why don't you and your fellow 'valley dwellers' just grab some tissue's and dry off your keyboards!
i'm a BRADFORD sports fan.
i used to go to odsal before the circus that is super league.
sky have ruined the sport by making clubs over rely on them.
yes i am a city fan and i am happy to be in league one debt free than premier league debt ridden chasing a stupid dream.
i live near odsal stadium and it saddens me to see what is happening.
at the end of the day you cannot be involved and not have known something was wrong.
ignorance is not an excuse.
like someone as stated, make it a clean start going forward.
What a cockroach. As you state, you missed the Superleague era so you have absolutely no idea and thus nothing to contribute. Why scuttle out at this point with your vitriol. Slide back under your skirting board

Whatever your views on the subject The RFL are the governing body of the sport. They want to see successful clubs Is their way of punishing rather than helping the best way forward.

When Mr hood approached them for help they "stole" the ground off the people of Bradford for a pittance. This led to the bank calling in the overdraft and forcing the club into administration.

At this point the RFL had 2 options. 1 to punish the club. 2. To help the club.

Here's what happened. The sky money, £100000 per month, was stopped. Mr Guilfoyle brought several potential buyers to the table but the RFL either rejected them or put unreasonable demands on them. This led to the administration period being extended until there was nobody left and the administrator was about to wind up the club when Omar Khan stepped in and accepted the unreasonable demands of the RFL

Any money he put in was swallowed up by the administrator leaving nothing left for creditors. Had the RFL not helped extend the period of administration there might have been some money left to pay creditors!

Anyway because we couldn't pay the creditors we received reduced funding which has only helped put the club back into admin.

The club was only in admin for 2 hours. The administrator had 28 days to find a buyer which he did only for the RFL to impose further sanctions causing the buyers to withdraw their offer and now the club is back in admin again. The longer the club stays in admin the bigger the bill gets from the administrator and the less chance of any creditors being paid off .

If only the RFL had worked with the new owners instead of against them the club would have been well on its way to getting on its feet again not back on its deathbed.

The RFL had tried the stick and it only made matters worse, lets hope in future they might try the carrot

Great post which sums it up ! Sadly this is the end result of 10 years of bad managment by the club ! Noble & Casiley did one as they could see what was about to unfold at tghe club. Its taken ten years of hard bad managment to get us to where we are now.

On a plus side Franny & those that remain at the club are good people who have the club at heart so up & on.
