Bradford Park Avenue boss John Deacey was denied the chance to renew rivalries with Lee Sinnott as Altrincham’s Moss Lane pitch failed a morning pitch inspection on Saturday.

The postponement prevented new loan signing Joel Hazel from making his debut. The 19-year-old forward has joined Avenue from Sky Bet League Two outfit Chesterfield until March 8.

Deacey’s men are due to host Stockport County tomorrow night. The clash of the two former Football League clubs was scheduled for New Year’s Day but that original date was lost to a waterlogged pitch.

Brighouse Town and Thackley both had scheduled home games, against Bridlington and Athersley Recreation respectively, in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division but both were called off. Just four of the top division’s games went ahead at the weekend.

Eccleshill United’s game at Worsborough Bridge in NCE Division One and Silsden’s trip to Runcorn in the North West Counties Premier were also aborted before lunchtime, saving both clubs wasted journeys.
