City will look to sign Middlesbrough midfielder Matty Dolan when the emergency loan window opens next week.

They had hoped to beat last night’s transfer deadline to bring in the 20-year-old with talks taking place through the evening.

But despite claims on Boro’s official Twitter site that a loan had been done, they were unable to push a deal through before the 11pm cut-off point.

But it is understood that there is an agreement in place between the club’s chief executives to resurrect the move when the loan window is open again from Friday.

Dolan recently spent three months on loan at Colin Cooper’s Hartlepool, who were also keen on signing him.
